Convertible Vehicles - Are Convertible A-Pillars any different than T-top or Hardtop cars?

Obviously not talking about the interior piece. I am talking about the actual metal/frame design.

Are convertibles reinforced around the windshield in anyway? Just wondering how safe these targa topped cars are...

Obviously they need SFC's, just wondering if the a-pillars in hard top and t-top cars were identical to convertibles which are obviously strong enough to support the windshield by themselves...

Anyone have one of those factory cut away pics?
