Default replacing open diff. with LSD

I've got a 2000 v6 camaro with stock 3.23 gears (3 series right?). I'm looking to replace it with a zexel unit being sold by a board member, out of an m6 WS6 I believe. Would it be a direct swap with the open differential I have in my rear end now? Assuming the zexel unit is a 3 series?

Thanks

i replaced my open with a zexel... just popped the old one out, swapped ring gear, and re-installed... no problems whatsoever

2 or 3 series wont matter when you replacing the carrier, only when swapping just gears.

It does matter. If you had a Torsen with 2.73's and wanted to put in 3.73's you'd need to swap the carrier.

The OP if you have 3.23's and the Torsen carrier you got from the other guy came out of an M6 WS6, then it should have had 3.42's. So you should be able to swap it no problem.

You just said the exact same thing I said, you can put a 3 series carrier in a rear end that came with a 2 series and vise-versa, the only thing that matters is if your only swapping gears, you have to get the ones for your carries.

Oh yea, that internet lack of expression.

To put it another way if he's swapping JUST the gears. I guess. If it was a voice conversation it would be so much easier.
