For a 1999 TA, what's the ideal temperature to wait for to take off on a cold start? Is it the first quarter mark (105)?

If you take off at half that (52.5), are there any risks involved?

What the heck are you talking about? You don't have to wait for the car to warm up to drive it. If you are going to beat the hell out of it, make sure the temp gauge is straight up..

i just start mine up and wait a few seconds since in the morning it does its little LS1 tick...

All Engines warm up faster when driven rather then sitting.

I beat on mine right away Well ok, I start it up and let it sit for 5seconds, the pull out of the drive way and after a minute I'm out on the main road. By then the motor has oil all in the right places and the start-up tick is gone. THAT'S when the fun starts.

I thought it was best to let the engine warm up a few minutes at least before taking off, or did I hear everyone who told me this wrong?

I'm not complaining. I just thought it was a safety protocol in the best interest of the engine.

It's not BAD, but it's not exactly required. You just want to wait a bit before you actually beat on it just to make sure oil has been pumped through the motor, and if you have and auto trans, same deal.
