im thinking about getting Hp tuner not to tune but to do some monitering of different sensors i was hoping by getting a baseline then doing whatever my speed part may be and comparing the info i could verify to some extent wether it is helping or hurting performance. is hp good for that or is there a different program i want for that

HP Tuner should have you covered. The scanner function is quite simple and very helpful. You can use the scanner function to see if certain mods and tuning has helped or hurt. You just gotta know how to read the sensor values and what they mean. But it is best to get familiar with the scanner and its functions before you start tuning. This will help you in tuning and monitoring what your engine is doing. I would say HP Tuner is what you need. I am very pleased with it.

if im mostly gonna use if for the scanner doesit matter if i get the pro one or not?
