I know that when the New Camaro's launch there wont be any Z28 model's BUT i get Road and Track magazines every month and I read that there will be a Supercharged Z28 released the year after launch ...and ive gotten so much feedback that its not gonna happen ....and that it is ...is there any official word on this because i really want a new Camaro and if there's gonna be a Z28 model i'll wait another year or so and if there's not i'll just settle for the 6speed manual SS

More like 2-3 yrs after launch, or at least thats what the hints point to. I will wait til i am in a financial position to buy one outright then make my decision based on the success each version has.

I would hold out a year or two after its release. I have a feeling that there will be a price mark up on them.

If it comes out in 2-3 years is there any additions that the SS will have like SLP options ie: Rims , exhaust , suspension...etc:

I think there will be a lot of options for the SS, probably through GMPP. The Camaro is the SEMA car of the show this year, which should give an indication of the volume of aftermarket parts that will be available both from GM and from the industry. I think there will always be a better edition to come down the road, you can wait forever for the next best thing and never get to drive the car.

For me it is about my personal experience, not the numbers or beating every special edition car out there. If I drive the car and it does anywhere near what I think it is going to, I will get it.

However, I can understand where you are coming from. You just want to get the best camaro that will be available, but I don't think they will confirm (or even decide) anything until they see that the car sells. I don't think you would have to wait a year to avoid any dealer markup, based on what it sounds like they will be producing. Only time will tell, though.

I'm going to wait. If they decide they won't build it and then also name a date when they stop building the Camaro all together, I will place an order. I missed it on the 4th gens, so I'm not going to miss it this time.

I would wait a year or two regardless. Never buy a car in the first model year.

I would never buy a first year anything. Let the bugs get ironed out first.

Oh, and let the price drop as well :)

Then again I buy nothing new...always a little used.

Looks like it is dead for sure according to Lutz himself:
“I get letters from people saying they heard we were going to add a supercharged 600-hp V-8 to the Camaro lineup, and I write back saying ‘Sorry, with new (corporate average fuel economy) standards (for 2020), we aren’t going to do it.”

Did you read the link i posted above from BOB LUTZ himself?

I guess the question is is who is right? Lutz or Settlemire?

Either way it appears we will not get an LSA equipped Camaro.
Settlemire has ruled out an LS7 also.

So what would the Z28 be then?

Hope only goes so far my friend. What im saying is dont count on it. Just get the LS3 & mod it! The 2010's must sell as good as the 2005 mustangs if the Z28 is even considered. If the new Camaro doesnt do as good as planned, why would they bring & even more expensive Z28 model out? On a side note, I still find it strange how dodge went the other way by starting with the SRT8.

It should be easier to put a blower on this thing since the motor isn't all up under the cowl. I'll probably go turbo if I get one of these. It's gonna need the power to haul all that weight around.

I'm waiting for a Z28 vert. I look at it this way, if I wait a few years and the Z is made then I get a 500+hp vert. If I wait and the Z doesn't get made then I will get a SS vert and still be happy that I have the most powerful Camaro available from the factory. If you just can't wait then lease a SS for 3 years and if the Z comes out then you can turn in the SS for the Z.

Word I've heard is that Saleen, Roush and Mecham will be making versions of the Camaro as well.

I'm sure GMMG and SLP will both make their own versions too.

The thing is I dont wanna blow 30+ grand on a SS and then trade it in if a Z28 comes out because once you roll the car off the lot it lost some value to it and you know very well that when us camaro guys get the ss off the lot we are going to drive it like there aint no tomorrow

Any LS engine is epic, regardless of the letter or number that follows. It's more of the fact you have the top model than anything else. That's what everyone will see and oot over. Regardless, you'll probably have to wait till 2010 to get one anyway with the demand, new Transformers movie and TV show featuring the Camaro making people want to make babies with the Camaro. Hopefully this time around people will know what is in the beast.

I'm excited! :pimp:

So what do you guys think an LSA Camaro would go for under the current market? There seems to be alot of ppl in here who would hold over for the Z28 if it's announced. Are you all expecting this to be just a couple grand more expensive than the SS?

Maybe if fuel comes down to 1.50 again, a higher powered camaro may actually come true. They have to worry about selling the forecasted 80-100k camaros, while our economy is still getting worse. The thread is purely hypothetical.
