9.7:1 396ci, D1-SC, Triple Disc A4
Well I have owned this car for sometime now and over the last few months I have been finishing it up, new 2 core radiator, polished plenum, new pulley, etc. It's a 9.7:1 396, forged internals, AFR 205's, ARP fasteners, custom Blower Cam, built 4L60E and a heavy triple disc PI converter. The final step was obviously the tune and I decided to take it to Brett at XP who took the car under his wing for the tune.
We did the final power runs today in 85-90* temps with final numbers of 653.55 RWHP and 634.60 RWTQ. After talking to a local guy who had a 630RWHP 30th T/A, just from cooler denser air his car went from 560 RWHP in 80-90* temps, to 630 RWHP @ 70*. Also, browsing around here has shown similar results. Hopefully this car will see its fair share over 700 RWHP as it sits in cooler weather, the only kicker, it won't have the same pulley then .
A huge thanks goes out to Brett at XP Racing who not only tuned the car in 3 Bar SD, but helped with every issue that came up during the tune, this car couldn't have been done without him.
Keeping in mind the numbers are through a built/stalled 4L60E with a PI triple disc converter. I made a covert trip out to the track but had to shut it down every one because of no cage, but it picked up an extra 1.5 PSI according to HP Tuners under that load, obviously unaccounted for on the dyno.
I'm definitely pleased with the setup and am looking forward to a new pulley after I get used to this one! Thoughts?
EDIT: I'll be going back to XP this week to get the tune finalized then post a graph. I had one up but I don't want to post it without the tune 100%.

Looks like some serious power brother. Can't wait until you can do a full run (even though you'll get kicked out) to see what that a4 can do. Good luck and congratulations.

That just seems like a total contradiction, wont do a 3 bar tune, obviously he doesn't know how, doesnt see enough boosted cars to get in to it, but hes not in the same league as the tuner who can/will/knows better to tune a car with a 3bar map than tune with a maxed out maf, and take a chance at blowing up a motor. apples to oranges, IMO.

Well some good and some bad news unfortunately.
We went back to do some tweaking and replaced the wideband today and the car is running out of fuel, the VE all read fine on the other wideband but this one shows it leaning out a lil up top, injectors duty cycle shows they are maxed out pretty bad. Sooo... I just ordered a Driver Box and some 72lb injectors and the car should be finished up in a couple weeks. Bad news, another $800 in parts, waiting and no getting on it, good news, probably some more power!!
Can't complain about a free tune! I've had 3, a mild H/C 98 Stalled car, 400/380, a H/C stalled 01 T/A, 441/430 with a y pipe and LS6 intake doing 11.50's, and this car.

I apolgize to the OP of this thread, I was simply agreeing with your choice to tune your car in speed density, as that is the only way to truly get these big power cars tuned right, using a stock computer. Even though you may have taken it to a tuner that doesn't have the long list of credentials that other tuners have the fact hes tuning the car the right way is a great start, watch the air fuel, dont get too greedy on timing and have fun

Tuning a high HP boosted car with a MAF is nowhere near as efficient as a 3bar speed density. I am the one who built Trust's car and am also the one tuning it.......and the reason I don't have the credintials ed wright does is, wait oh yeah, he's 40+ years old where as I'm only 22. As soon as we get some low impedence injectors and driver box I can start tuning his car again. I am assuiming it will pick up another 25-50hp.
And for what it's worth I am also in the process of tuning a 99FRC with a F1R, 3" pully with a custom 12rib setup, that I built by myself, and am hoping to make 1000+RWHP. It is one of one in the nation. Maybe after Trust's car is done and the vette is done people wont question a 22 year old so much.
So Trust, I'm glad you're happy with the tune so far man, I'll get it right for ya......Just gonna take a little more time. But you will be able to daily drive this monster with that A4 I built for you
