Took the buddies' wife's IMP SS to the dragtrip tonight...
He started out with a 16.1x and after about 20 passes got down to a 14.84@94mph.
I knocked the tire pressire down to 24lbs and that was the ONLY mod.
Car still has 2 carseats and 2+kids worth of **** in it! (He was solo on the runs w/about 1/2 tank of fuel....)
I think it was pretty impressive--- waddya regulars think?

This will be a great car to buy for $10k on the used market.
Hopefully they will continue to drop quickly (I know that's a double-edged sword--sorry in advance!) but I want one!

The Monte, GXP, and Buick Super are basiclly the same car.
The Chevys are the cheapest thought. There are a few low millege Monte SS out there for like 16 000 and under in pretty good shape.

What, no ones talking about b-bodies here. You can save the "real SS" crap. And if he was initially talking about a b-body then this isn't the place for that discussion.

no question from a roll, but (when running) my LT1 Caprice would take the first 1/8th mile (or highway merge) hands down. My ISS would have to run almost all the way down the quarter mile before it would catch it. And even then it would not be a certainty with the difficulty in launching the LS4.

Well there's no question there, I think his "real Impala" comment was probably just referring to the RWD aspect, as if we haven't heard that enough. To them it doesn't matter we're faster stock for stock they're RWD so we automatically suck.

My wife's 06 Impala SS ran 13.75 at 101 bone stock with the air filter taken out of it and no traction on a 2.25 60 foot. I'd be willing to be it would run a 13.4 on drag radials in good air.

Sorry--- I assumed we were all smacktalking about the FWD cars....
BTW... We also happen to have a full (BARGE) weight 1996 B-body Impala SS
that I'll run HEADS UP (ok you can have the hit)....
With any FWD Imp SS...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-modifications/981815-oops-just-got-kicked-out-great-lakes-dragaway-11-04-125-96-imp-ss.html
Please see the attachment also
Both cars have the same purpose (Idle @ 750rpm, nice comfy ride, A/C...)
but the FWD one will ALWAYS be the winter beater!

Well a modded B-body isn't a fair comparison against any W-body. Even with the turbo you're only talking high 11's for the W-body. Why would we be smacktalking the FWD cars in the FWD section of the site?
