2000 Z28 LS1 vs. 2008 G37 so i know i just wrote about that race i had about the kid in the saleen/cobra R wannabe but that happened last week.....this just happened this afternoon!!!
im still all shaky from adrenaline!!!
anyway...
So im tellin my friend who happens to have a brand new infiniti G37 coupe about the mustang kill story around a few other car guys i was just chillin with, and he says i cant take his car cause it shifts faster and revs harder.he claims "dude ive got 330 horses and a tiptronic trans w/ paddle shifters",naturally i said "dont even try this brother, you know mines faster".
We have never raced but ive been in that car a number of times where he tried to impress with its "performance".yes, its a nice car, and yes its very comfortable and yes it does look really nice lowered with limo tint on black 20s w/ a red lip, and a black car.but NO, it cannot out accelerate, OR out corner me.(he already found that he couldnt hang with me through the canyons earlier this month)so he goes "**** you dude lets race right now". i was kind of hesitant since its broad daylight and police patrol this town like ants on a lost lollipop.buuuuuuut after a miniute of careful reasoning, i say "maybe later dude ill hand you your *** hahahahah "but then some one says this idea of going to a certain burger hangout and everyone wants to bolt all of sudden.
So about 5 or 6 cars of us set out across town and im cruisin with my best friend chris in the car.all of a sudden i get this black car in the corner of my eye and low and behold its the G37 wanting a peice of action.thought he could tantalize me into a race, and he was right.so we get settled down to about a 30-35 roll with space to run, but when we both launch on his 3rd honk we get about through 1 gear shift before we see a cop sitting at the next upcoming light(thank GOD he didnt see us racing)so we had to supress ourselves all the way down to the burger place.needless to say i pulled him harder than he thought but hes a pretty stubborn person so he refused to admit i pulled on him what little we ran.so through all the meal were all bullshittin again and he brings up how if they get a longer run hell easily take me, so i gave him the "hahahahah ok junior hahahaha"(hes 17 and im 21 so i thought callin him junior was funny)so it got him more riled up but eventually he dropped it.
so then were leaving the parking lot and my buddy does a burnout leaving in hos truck and my other buddy in a C5 leaves a little chirp.so naturally i show everyone up with a brake stand into a 60 footer or so and leave my tires doin the sticky rock sound in the fender wells.so with my tires warm and the motor feelin great i get up next to the G37 again down this looooooong farm road and say "ok junior, your go". so from a stop we get nose to nose and my other buddy drives down about a half mile down the road since he said he wants a "long run to outrun me" i figured id let him try to chase me for a half mile.He gets all ready revvin his auto tiptronic tryin to ge t arise outa me but nothing over my rev i threw back at him.so then he says "when i say go after 3 ok?"fine with me.....so "one, two, th" brrrrrrraaaaaaa!!!!! He takes off before he says go and i go with him on his move and launch HARD.like REALLY HARD. like i nailed that launch with light tirespin at the top end of the gear. now going through 1st i pulled on his rear quarter then BAM!!! my shift kit hits hard into 2nd and lets out a slight moan and revs like hell through 2nd(which runs soooooooo powerful) and pull past his front fender as im hitting 3rd and a good chirp into third sets me off into a good ol fashioned all motor pull up to 100+ then into 4th for the rest of the 1/2 mile.my speedo said about 143 when i let off after i passed my friend's truck and got on the brakes HARD to keep from getting in trouble at the end of the road coming up.
i thought it looked like about 2 cars i pulled on him but my friend on his truck said i had pulled up to about 4 when i got past the truck.i was so pumped about the race,but even more pumped that i shut his little rich ***, daddy bought this for me ***.it was an awesome kill and worth the wait definitely. i was so excited i had to come back here and post it while it was fresh in my memory.I cant wait for the rematch when i cam my car and he doesnt know what hit him hahahahah.

Nice kill.....but I got to say that either something is wrong with your car or he has some sort of power adder.
You indicate that you raced up to 143mph and put only 4 lengths on him??? You should have been bus lengths ahead of him at that speed. My buddy has a 2008 G37 (6 speed manual) and I can smoke him with my TBSS. Put an easy 6-7 cars on him up to around 110mph. By the way, my TBSS only runs low 13s (pretty much the same as a bone stock LS1 f-body). have not had a chance to run him in my Camaro; that would be even worse for him.
His car only runs low 14s at the track (he is a decent driver).

didnt read all of it... couldnt, but understood that you pulled him by 4 cars by around 143mph... i hope you're close to stock...
When i was near stock with catback, FIPK, and PTB with 336rwhp, i put busses on a bone stock g37, probably automatic with 2 guys in it....

my eyes are killing me now but nice kill. must have been more done to that car or your real stock. i killed a bolt on 05 350z. pulled him by almost 4 cars only to 80mph. but they are less horse power

Agreed. Nissan VQ is not good for top end...actually, its really not good for anything. They aren't powerful or torquey, they aren't fast, and they get worse gas mileage than most V8's. Nissan might as well hang up the boots.

and this is the engines going into the new 370Z also isnt it? the one being used in the new infinities?
wow that would suck. because the current 350z are finally running some decent times stock as is. if they wind up going backwards in performance that would really blow. i like those cars.
and like others have said. to 143 you should have put atleast 6-7 lengths on him.
as a vert i ran 13.5@105 stock and ran a 350z with ud pulley/intake/exhaust and to 135 i had 5 cars on him and was steadily pulling.
and im by no means in the fastest Ls1 made cars bracket being a very
but good kill none the less.
you mabe have a dirt fuel filter or something small that might be cutting back some of your topend? what is your 1/4 times? your sig says Cammedls1? if your cammed and that was all you could pull..........

Nice Kill.
The other night some guy pulled up on me and tried to race me in a new G37. It still had the paper plates. He got the hit and in one gear i put 4 cars on him LOL. But i'm modded. I seen him race my friend right after that has an 07 350z with exhaust and intake and the g37 hung pretty good but still lost by 1.5 cars.
