Default Who let the cats out...

Some knucklehead came to our dealership and stole 8 catalytic converters right from under the cars! Seems that the Kia Sportage doesn't weld them in, and then they just unbolted them and bah-bye..

Then, a Chevy dealer right down the street gets hit.

Seems they have precious metals that crackheads trade for cash.

A warning to other dealerships- tack weld them in or else...

I could be wrong but I believe they have platinum in them. I know u can trade them into a recycling plant for a good price...

Even if u tack Wel them in... 2 min with the sawsall and the cat is theirs anyway... It would probobly be quicker to cut them off then unbolt them.

I work at a trucking company, and some driver cut out an employee's cat from their SUV right in the middle of the day with some kind of cordless sawzall/dremel.

On a side note, it was me and I am currently using the platinum on my grill...

yes it has platinum in it, as long is it isnt damaged or broken. new cars is generally the target. they can get in upwards of 500$ per cat and as little as 200$

Yeah they have platinum in them. Our bodyshop just got hit up 2 days ago for cats and punched holes in the fueltanks of our gas and diesel trucks. They just cut them off using a cordless sawzall, cost us $4000 worth of parts and it was only 3 vehicles.

They had a story about this a while ago in the paper. Turns out they also target commuter car lots and go after SUVS there, since they can just crawl under the car and get them.

Some of the recycling plants are starting to take names & fingerprints from people that bring in metals like that.

A guy was caught in Rahway, NJ stealing cats. He was using a cordless ryobi sawzall. It took him less then a minute per car. The usually target the SUV since they can slide right under them without the need to jack the vehicles up. I heard the toyota 4-runners are a popular target.

A few years back in Cranford, someone had there front bumper stolen off of there Honda Accord while they were getting a movie from Blockbuster video. The car was parallel parked on a main road during the daytime when this happened.

If I get pulled over and they check under my car, I'm gonna say someone stole my cats.

yea this isnt uncommon, i've heard of this happening often... dealerships really should just invest in security cameras... i mean they have hundreds of thousands of dollars right out in the open....

A little off topic, but I have another example of crackheads doing stupid **** for money... I do hvac and i was working in a bulding and noticed there was no power. It seems that they cut out the walls and cut out the power supply cables along with all of the copper water lines that were coming in. The freaking things were 8 inches thick with 440 vac coming in. im sure they got a shock when they turned the power back on!
