66 Skylark Swap
I am swapping a 98 Vette LS1 into my 66 Skylark. I have the BRP engine mount kit, the LH8 oil pan kit and Edelbrock swap hearders. I am keeping the 200 4R that is already in the car. It's time to swap the Vette bat wing oil pan for the LH8. Anything special I need to know? Should I use any sealer on the gasket surface? 'Preciate any help on this as I am knew to the LS motors.

You don't need any sealer on the gasket, just 4 SMALL dots of sealer where the front and rear covers meet the block and you should be fine. Just make sure the pan lines up flush with the rear of the block (where the trans bolts up) a strait edge is all you need to check this. And be sure to put a NEW o-ring on the pick up tube for the oil pump, because if the old one dosen't seal right it could suck air instead of oil and then you'll get no oil pressure,it's cheap insurance. Also I'm pretty sure a Skylark is basically the same as a Chevelle, so you might try a search for Chevelles on here, there's alot of info on them on here. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, LS1 Nova. The Skylark and the Chevelle are very similar and I have read threads that feature the Chevelle. This is my first LS1 and I don't know much about them. Everything I have had has been old school. Thanks again!
