there is no way to do this job with a 4-5 wire hookup....AT ALL....every single thing on this motor is ran by your pcm....good luck man...its gonna be a job...your best bet is to call speartech and tell them what you got and every detail of what you got and have them modify your harness for a direct plug up and go....if you need speartechs number then its 765-378-4908..their nice guys and will help you out tremendously... btw they should modify your harness with a fuse block for about 450-500 and thats cheap right there and if you dont have a harness tell them what you got(be specific, year and stuff) and they can make you a custom harness

i was referring to 4-5 wires from the pcm, alt and starter. i have seen harnesses thinned out so there is just the necessary components to make the engine run. for example the painless harness. but instead of an open loop pcm it would go to the stock OBD1 unit

capt- off-road racing is probably the most fun i have ever had in a 4 wheel vehicle. if you are want to check out some good websites check out dezertrangers.com and race-dezert.com both have a lot of content and info if you ever want to get started. i know there is a few guys that race out here from TX. but most of the desert community is from so cal. AZ. NV. MEX.

Well you need 16 wires for the injectors alone, so it can't happen. Now, a CARB motor, you can have 3-5, but not a fuel injected 8cyl. Hell I doubt even a fuelie 1cyl You NEED the TPS 3 wires, IAT 2 wires, Knock Sensor 1 wire, Coolant Temp Sensor 2 wires, aforementioned 16 wires, Opti Harness is 3 or 4 wires, and whether or not you need an IAC (possible to tune it out?) that's another 4 wires. Then you're looking at the 2 or so power wires for the PCM, the 2-6 ground wires for the PCM. So far you're up to a possible 40 wires.

Unless I'm missing something and you can run 2 wires for all 8 injectors Hardcore batch injection!

Oh I forgot the MAP, that's another 3 wires, ignition control module is 2-3 more wires.

Just search for a stand alone harness- there are diagrams on the site to run this on 4 (power) wires. I paid $75 for a stand alone harness on ebay.

First trip out after i beamed, and linked it. suspension was way too harsh as you can see in the video. revalved all 8 shocks and adjusted the bypasses and its much faster now

Same as you do a TBI vehicle, get the GM harness.

thanks. so is there any disadvantage to converting to speed density? it seemes like all the dust and silt may affect the performance of my mass air flow

Nope. Many people in the high HP numbers convert to SD. You just have to get the PCM tuned for SD to get the performance out of it. Otherwise it's just running in SD fall-back mode, for when the MAF fails.
