A friend bought an 85 t/a with a 305. Is there any way he can make the stock holes in the stock hood functional. His engine is carburated.

Anyone know???
its the holes on the front of the hood. . . this isn't his car but they both got the same hood, and its the best pic I could find.

They are vents...not scoops and they actually functional...if you look under your hood you will see they are vented into the hood. They bring clean cool air into the engine and then the side vents act as extractors....just like the extractors on the hoods of late modle Firehawks.

so all the vents in the hood are functional?!. What about the vents behind the front tires on the fenders?

I can see the holes in the fender well for the vent on that picture, so I'd say they are functional as well ;)

I don't even think the engines are functional in the 3d gens:D Just kidding...I've owned several 3d gens. My favorite car of all time was my 85 H.O. 5 speed.

LOL Sounds like an import "I've got functional ram air, front and rear adjustable spoilers, coil over shocks which make it quite the functional race car. Except, my motor is non functional". Which basically summarizes to "All show, no go" which 98% of the ricers are:punch:

That exactly what hes got, an 85 5.0 HO 5-speed. Hes workin on it but it keep overheating. He's checked all the basic stuff, thermostate, water leaks, flushed the whole system several times and the water comes out clean by now. He thinks its a problem with a head gasket, I think its the spider. . . .
How much woulg a wiring harness cost for one of these? I can only find "universal" wiring harness online.

LOL, im glad to find out my 85's hood vents are functional! I have the p.o.s L.O. motor though... but the 5-speed somewhat makes up for it.

You should get that sticker made, or license plate "5.0 L.O."

OK, I asked this question a while back. Im thinking about buying his car, but I want to know if anybody has any pics or write up on how to make scoops functional like on the fourth gen WS6 and the BGRA did, or how the old 68 buick GS had with their hood scoops.
