As I do open track non roll caged cars, its incidents like this that really make you aware of what can happen. Mid Ohio, T2 350 Z. Driver walked away from this thanks to a proper roll cage and safety equipment.. Lost his brakes and left the track at 90 +mph. Even an ALMS Aston Martin didn't clear the fence like this guy in a much slower car. All the LS1 camaros on this website in stock form will be carrying more speed down that straight than a 350 Z. Yes it can happen to anyone.

Great driving to miss the car he was closing on so quickly. Looked like he was fighting to do what they say in the driving schools, spin it and go in backwards.
Glad he walked away.
Things like this are why I try to carry as much safety equipment as I can afford. It usually isn't as much as I would like to have, but it is as good a situation as I can make it.

I don't trust a snap together cage, seems to me if you can pop it together and accident can pop it apart. Pay for a real cage, installed specifically to the contours of your car.

Scary stuff.
I'm not willing to cage my Z28.
But, thats y I'm not going any further with it (I've stayed on street tires and high speed auto-xs).
The new Vette project WILL get a cage b4 it sees slicks of multi lap events.
Good info and good reminder!!
Glad the guy was OK.

yeah, and ive seen just as bad, if not more damage and carnage on the streets of NJ. it can happen anywhere. not just the track.
