whining after fluid change

whining after fluid change i changed my rearend fluid last friday.when i changed it i thought i had the gm additive.but turns out someone else used it.so i had to put some other brand stuff in(kendall i think)the rear started whining today on my way home from work.is it because i didnt use the GM stuff?
