Default Mosor 12 bolt converted to factory 'through' bolts?

Like the title says, can the Mosor 12 bolt have the bolt holes drilled through like the factory bolts without screwing anything up?

Cant be done. Only option would be to make a bracket that bolts into the moser holed then weld them up and in the new bracket have through holes but even then you might run out of space between the housing and tunnel. The reason those holes are like that ( not through ) is to try and keep the torque arm in the stock lateral location and being that the 12 bolt gear set is so much larger than the stock 10 bolt if those holes were to go right through you would be drilling into internals hence the compromise and the little stumpy blind hole bolts.

From what I've read, I'd agree...if you drill through those holes, you'll be drilling into the gear case itself, so it'll never be able to hold oil.

And that's why I put up with the long wait from Strange for their 12-bolt housing.

i have to admit, i was verrrrry skeptical of the Moser 12,,,i now have one, and enjoy it, but those tiny *** bolts are a stress factor. If i ever have to do the whole rear-end thing again,,i will be going Strange just for that reason.

Red Loctite is your friend. I never had issues with mine getting loose. I beat mine worse than a stepchild and had zero issues.

I used it, and a lock washer, and a 12 grade bolt.

Sounds like the hole was bad before you used loctite. You need to drill and tap a new set of threads. Then use loctite and a lock washer.

some things to look at. If the Ta bracket isn't a very tight fit on the houseing the bolts will come loose. If its not tight when you tighten the bolts you are tweaking the bracket and not actually clamping. I made shims to slide in between the bracket and the housing which helped alot. Now, since I never take the bracket off the housing I just put a small tack weld on the head of each bolt

https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspension-brakes/971702-if-your-educated-way-torque-arm-come.html

Here is a link to another of my threads about this. Im having torque arm problems, keeping the bolts in the rear. I guess these rears are notorous for that, but mine was already problemed when i bought the car.

Hey, too bad on that 94lt1m6. I read the whole thread and I was feeling your pain like it was my own. Did you ever drill bigger holes, tap 'em, and use washers and Loc-tite?

I'd love to hear a happy ending to your story so I can feel better. Wherever you're currently at though, hang in there. The story can end happily. Best regards.

Hey thanks a lot man. Im in the process of taping the holes right now. I used the lock tite, and washers, but still no luck. Now i'll tap them, used the lock tite, lock washers, and new torque arm.

That sounds promising. You'll have stronger bolts and a better torque arm.

Keep us posted. Good luck!

Ive had my rear for over 3 years, Used red Loctite and when I did my clutch swap, an impact gun was all that was needed to lossen, Worst comes to worst, the TQ should be inspected periodically.

Alot of people seem to bitch but thats part of owning a modified car, you gotta do the upkeep/matience. But then again, the same person who bitched about matience never changes valve springs on his MS4/T-rex cam and wonder why a valve dropped after 20k miles of hard racing.....

thats good to hear,, i went pretty heavy on the red loctite,, cleaned the holes out very good too, ,,i noticed rust powder junk at the bottom of the hole on the top (rear) that was actually not letting my bolt sit properly.
