LS1 Jeep Scrambler----Scrambled! Well guys, about 3 weeks ago I finished my 83 aluminum bodied jeep scrambler with a LS1. Boy did that thing move! Insane power and the 3" ss exhaust sounded awesome. It ran for ~5 minutes, then I decided it was to pretty and had to run into a concrete wall 
. I was on my first test drive in a secluded parking lot. We had triple checked everything and were making fine adjustments to steering. On the last pass i went to a dead end area and hit the brakes to turn around and nothing. I tried to down shift but in the heat of the moment and concentrating on not killing me or my passenger (who had not put on his seatbelt yet), I froze. I knew better than to cut it and roll so I squared up and braced..........
I think the motor is ok. I pick up a new to me frame this weekend and will start swapping everything over.
With this project I have been thinking of others. I want to do a 67 el camino with a LSX TT and a Tremec.

Exactly why I was sweating bullets on the drive home from the exhaust shop.
I don't think there was a bolt or a brake line I didn't remove or replace. Kept thinking of all the 1000 things I might have done wrong.
Good thing no one was hurt.

Why not post up some pictures just to illustrate the point to double, triple check everything.......

Thanks for copying the pics over here. As far as the brakes go, I believe it was the master cylinder. The was no fluid leakage at the brakes or at any of the lines. Hopefully this weekend I will start taking the jeep apart and cleaning up the new frame. I think after fabbing all my extra mounts I am going to have it galvanized.
