Default Misfire Cylinder #4 New PCM

Hey,

I fried my PCM using HPtuners so I purchased a refurbished '98 PCM and had it mail order tuned, since I installed full exhaust. The car randomly sets off the SES light for Misfire on Cylinder #4 Detected. When it comes on I have cleared the code and it doesnt return for about 20 minutes or so. Is this due to it being a "different PCM" and because I need a crank relearn? and is it bad to drive the car if the light comes on? also I replaced the coil pack for that cylinder and all wires and plugs.

u might have broken a spark plug while installing the headers. cam learn has nothing to do with the Misfire on Cylinder #4. i drove my car for 4 monthes before i learned the cam shaft using tech-2.

There is no such thing as a cam learn but the CASE learn, same thing as crankshaft position sensor relearn has a lot to do with proper misfire detection. It should be done any time a PCM or crank position sensor is replaced.

This reminds me of my misfire code on cyl #6. It turned out to be a broken valve spring on #5. I replaced all of the valve springs and cleared the misfire code. The code never came back. The two items may not be connected at all, but it seems so. Check your valve springs, and of course, all of the plugs and plug wires.

I'm curious as to how you fried your PCM using HpTuners. Care to share?
