Question Painted my rotor hats...what do you think?

I was next to a Porsche a couple of weeks ago, and I saw these awesome looking calpers and rotors. I already had red calipers, and I has just gotten my new CD&S rotors so I thought I'd touch them up a bit. I think it goes well with my cars scheme.

*EDIT*: New pics are updated on page 2!

What do you guys think?

Not digging the red or the overspray...but they aren't mine, so as long as you are happy, and as long as they don't start chipping away.

Ehhh, I'm not crazy about it, but as long as you like it that's all that matters, it's your car!

i would've went with black so the red calipers would stand out more, but it still looks pretty good man, what's the red i see on the top back of the rotors? did you tape it good enough? or is it simply reflection off the new rotors?

Looks fine except for the overspray.

Personally I would have painted the hats black, but to each his own. As long as they're not bright blue (on a red car) or neon green (on a non-neon green car) it's cool. Paint is better than rust.

Thanks for the replies fellas. As for the red hats, it actually really makes the calipers stand out in the day light, and since the wheels are completely black, the rotors look like they're floating in black "space", it's a pretty cool effect.

As for the over spray, there isn't any, lol. The entire rotor was masked off, and i dont know what that bright red overspray looking "spot" is in that pic above the caliper....weird. The other overspray looking shots are from the flash. In the first 2 pics it was from before I finished painting the rotors

And the rotors were painted on the hats, and the outer edge of the rotor. It's actually a pretty clean job....it's just too bad you can see any of it with the wheel on.

Definitely overspray, cause the inner sides of the rotors aren't masked off with blue painters tape. See the bright silver at the bottom of the rotor in the pic? Not calling you a liar, but just pointing out the obvious...

This one shows the tape edge very good between the top two spokes:

That said, I still haven't done mine - and I've been meaning to for over a year now (even got the paint ready).

trust me, lol. I was there.

Thats why I purposely stated above that the first 2 pics were from before I finished painting rotors.

But i'm with you, the pics look like CRAZY over spray.

They look nice. I painted my rotors black with red rotors, it looks better than the rusty rotor IMO.

I sort of did the same thing but I wanted mine "painted" in the holes and slots so they wouldnt rust. So I had them powder coated and turned. I figured the powder coating should last longer than the paint.

I posted write up about it in the Appearence Section but here is a basic run down of what I did:

Here they are all black

On the lathe getting turned down enough to take the coating off the surface where the pads will touch:

And the finished product...best part no more rust!

Your powder coated rotors are the ****!!! I saw your post up, that why i posted mine up, lol.

I thought about it, but mines a daily driver, so it wasn't worth it to PC them. But just the masking, cutting to shape, and re masking and of the rotors took about 3 hours.

But again, yours look SWEET!!

Yeah, I dont know how in the world you got that round part taped off straight. Great job on that...if I had tried that it would be out of round and look like ***!
