Wet sanded before i cleared them
about 6 coats of clear
This is when i finally realized i put too much vht on
You could see through it but it was really dark, i decided to take them off and redo them at this point. i'm a perfectionist and wasn't happy with them. The third brake light is not done yet, i have plans for it
This is after i sanded them all down taped them off like this to spray a large outline first
Notice the larger lines seperating the different light? rounded off the turn signal and the backup lights.
4 coats of vht this time much better this time

This is one of those things, you have to just do to learn what will work out best. Yes it really sucked getting them all done and then not happy with them cause they were to dark. It took alot of sanding to get the lights back to normal after the first go around with about 5 and a half coats of vht and 6 or 7 coats of clear. painting the larger outline seperating the different lights was something i thought about while i was sanding away. the second time around i put 4 coats of vht on, then i wetsanded, so that probably took off close to a coat, so thats what worked for me. then i put about 6 or 7 coats of clear on. thats what makes the lights really look good, it makes them really smooth. I got the lights on now, cause this is my daily driver for right now, but still need to pull them off and wetsand and buff the clear. once i do that they will look perfect. so to anyone wanting to do this, i would recommend 3 maybe 4 coats of vht, and alot of clear. its all in your prep work. take the time to prep them right and they will come out great. mine came out great twice!

looks tight bro, 4 coats is the way to go. I'm ready to start mine but the auction for ebay just ended,I won some LT1's on there
if it turns out to not be bright enough, just swap to L.E.D.

i did like the way that looked with just 3 coats, but i'm going for the stealth look so black is what i was after. i think if you had a red or blue car with black berger panel that would be perfect.
