Question Idle AFR ok > 1000 12.0

Hey all,

Using Hp tuners to try and tune my 454 with LS7 topend and 60 lb injectors.

At Idle once it warms up it's pretty good at 14.1 > 14.7.

However as soon as the RPM's climb above 1000, it goes rich. At 1500 it was 12.1 with no load? I see this on my wideband (LM1) and also in the VCM scanner as the O2's are at .950mv....

Any ideas ?

Default Tune & log

Attached is the current tune and a log I just created with my LM1 attached.

As you can see above idle it goes pig rich. Accels good but AFR is too low....

Also seems like the initial AFR is lean when it's cold, or even after it has set for a while as I have to play with the accel, but once it warms up, seems to idle good...

BTW it's a SD tune from the 402 that was pulled and edited for the inj and eng size. The 402 ran strong with this tune with it's 36lb inj..

Any Ideas ?

Thanx

Look at the Fuel Control, PE section at the Delay RPM cell, there should be something there, not blank. At least I have never seen any that are blank. I have 4000 in mine which tells the PCM that I do not want power enrichment if I am under 4000 rpm's. Once that is reset, I would start VE tuning from scratch.

Try logging commanded afr, from there at least you can see what you are commanding. Obviously if you are commanding 12:1 or 13:1 afr then the pcm will try to reach that

Default Commanded AFR

I'll add this to my PID's in .cfg [SENS121] , I think... Though I'll double check in the drop down list where you add em.

While logging, how long can the logs be ? I know it depends on how much information you monitor but just an idea..

Thanks for the tip's. I'll resume trying to tune on Sunday, oh my...... LOL.

Default Progress !

Hey All,

Things are looking better. Got her off my water brake dyno and it's road time after an alignment on Monday.

On the AFR on start up, I edited the initial adder ve cet and also the time it remains on. Much better but still a little tweaking needed. I need another battery for the LM1 cause when I start the car, the voltage drop restarts the LM1.....

I really had to lean out the area of 30kpa and 2000 rpm to keep it from going pig rich in that area. Is this normal with these huge injectors ? Also my VE table looks strange in that area as it's not smooth. If I use the smooth function on the table, it's too rich there.

I'll keep ya posted,

Thanx for the tips !

I am pretty new to all of this computer tuning, but if you post up a log like foff667 mentioned, using commanded afr and actual afr. If I would have to guess, if your actual afr is = to commanded afr at certain rpms but not at all rpms than you need to look into your fuel injector control settings.
