Default TEA LS6 STG 2 heads vs Dart 205s

well, i sold the Dart 205s and got some TEA LS6 Stage 2 heads.
Went from about 10.9:1 compression to almost 11.6:1.
This was the only change, same LS6 intake, same TB, same lid, same filter, EVERYTHING.
This was even still on the heavy *** mikki radials.
No dyno tricks done in either of the runs.. Belts were on both pulls, tire pressure the same. Engine temp the same as well...

That's pretty impressive.
One question though. Why did they cut the run off at 6000? It looks like it may have went a little bit higher.
Just says how good the 243s are when ported by the right peoples.
One more question. Where the Darts out of the box, or had they been worked?

the run was stopped at 6500 if you look. That was the first pull...the other 2 pulls were to 6800-6900. That is where it peaked. The darts were out of the box, no extra work.

Yeah, my bad. It still looked like it may have climbed a bit.

Extra compression and flow definitely helps a lot when you have a decent sized cam.

TEA always has very good results, haven't seen or heard a bad thing about them yet. Congrats on the swap.

If I ever replace my 853 heads I wanted to go with some TEA AFR or TF. I wonder how much power the TEA ported afr pick up over the out of the box cnc'd afr?

Looks like dart heads suck.

What were your gains going from stock to the dart's? I would guess nothing considering your results from the ported 243's

they do suck if you dont do any extra work to them. They only flow like 296cfm & .600 lift hell PRC heads flow 312cfm @ .600 lift

I have the GM High Tech mag that tested all the ls1 heads and the out of the box Darts only flowed like 275 @ .600 no way in hell do they flow 296cfm. They were way behind all the heads they put them up against.

We quit CNC porting the AFR heads a few years ago. I think the stuff was good back then, but we are having a lot of success with the new TFS heads now. So I would either run an AFR head out of the box, or a TFS out of the box.

They are not bad for what you spend on them. The only work it took to get my darts to perform better was milling them for more compression.
