so heres an update...I have another post...because the crank pulley bolt crossthreaded somehow....It buggered up the bolt real bad...and only the crank a little....I'm goingto the dealership tomorrow for a new bolt....The tought is that the threads on the crank itself really isnt too bad...and I'v cleaned up the threads with a good bolt before(not on a crank...but on other stuff)...the metal on the crank is really F*cking tough...so I should be able to get it started...and use a little back and forth love on it till it grabs real good...then I can pull it back out to check it...clean it...and then start torqing on it.......I leaned up the stock bolt...and it trys to grab..but the pulley isnt in far enough to actually get ahold of the threads...the new one shold grab.....I HOPE.

Just get a tap, clean up the threads and buy a new bolt.

I just had to do this to a friends car a month or two ago...If i remember correctly it was a 16 #2 tap but ask chevrolet when you pick up your bolt because they will know for sure...

I had my first couple threads buggered up before as well. Definately run a tap and it will clean it right up. The problem probably came from using the stock bolt to pull the pulley off and it was on put in a coule of threads. I bought a longer bolt to use to pull the pulley off with.
