That looks like a wastegate where the bov should be, maybe I'm wrong but thats what me and some of my freinds thought it was.

LMFAO AH HAHAHAHA yes it is, check it out coming through the firewall into the TB, that is a damn wastegate. I have NEVER seen a BOV like that before, lol. That's awesome.

it looks like there is a wastegate on the intake side, and a BOV on the exhaust... the old switcheroo

dam that whole running the pipes into the firewall looks really clean and must of been a majorrrr pain in the ***, must be some kind of water to air ice box deal. And i agree i didnt spot the actual BOV at first , i was looking at the wastegate dumped back into the downpipe with the flexpipe on the right side i thought i was seeing things. It really looks like a wastegate used as a BOV, and dam that is definitely the first time i see that. Wonder how they got it to work tho or how it works period, im sure its possible though as it does have somewhat the same function (they are both "relief" valves in theory) but still im haha lol, good find though and very cool setup on that car. What car is it btw? Looks like old school muscle with new school steroids

it's actually very common to use a gate on the intake side.

I have never heard of this, is it something you would only do in a higher HP situation?

Yes you can run the WG on the intake side to regulate boost.....NOT a good idea as this sometimes causes a turbo to overspin.

The car is a '70 nova with a 5.3 and Big Stuff 3. A build thread is here http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/in...topic=103675.0

It looks to be quite sick!

alot of the big turbo drag cars doing it. It's more for staging the car than anything else, but they do break alot of turbo shafts it seems

The car is using a 60mm gate where it should be. I have heard of people using wastgates on the intake side to bleed off boost on the line/launch. I would think there might be a BOV elsewhere.
