how difficult is it to install a torque arm?

Question how difficult is it to install a torque arm?

i was thinking about getting a torque arm for my car and was wondering how hard it is to install this and what will i have to remove to install it?

Its really easy with the stock 10 bolt, but with my 9" and true duals run out the back it is a complete PITA. If I were you I would go with some other mods first.

3 bolts and cut out the old bushing. Its easier than changing the oil.

i am saving to buy a group of suspension parts, and the torque arm is the most unfamiliar part i have looked at,

do i just take the car to a shop to get it up in the air like they have it? or can i just jack it in the air and do it that way, it seems like it would be very difficult to do it when the car is just jacked up...

It shows the correct way, but gives the wrong value.

I did it in my garage on jack stands. The hardest parts was getting the poly bushing back into the clam shell bracket on the trans and closing said bracket and starting the bolt. I finally had to get my wife to get under the car to help me cause my hands were just too damn big to get into the space.

it will be easier if you put jacks on the frame of the car and keep a jack under the pumpkin to raise/lower the rear while youre doing it. I had to raise/lower the rear a little a few times to make it slide on real easy.

I have a BMR Adj Tq Arm BTW..

alright thanks, did it help the traction and wheel hop on the car any after install? could you tell a difference?

+1 for the same scenario!
Try to jack it up as high and SAFE as possible and have some little hands available, it's really not that hard!
Also if your buying suspension parts make sure they are adjustable, like Panhard bar and torque arm cause if you lower your car you will need these things to have good alignment. Goood luck!

Before you buy your torque arm, make sure that you investigate the design and manufacturing features of each torque arm. You will find that torque arms are NOT all the same. Each of the manufacturers build them differently, and some designs are superior than others. You want a stiff torque arm, not one that bends or flexes under extreme loads.

By the way, most of the 7-second and 8-second cars at the LSX ShootOut will be using off-the-shelf BMR Torque Arms.

Your car may never have 1000+ horsepower, but you still want a stiff torque arm for a good launch. Good Luck!

haha yea my car probably won't get any where near the 1xxx hp numbers but i will definately take in consideration the bmr torque arm, there are a lot of positive feedback on those torque arms.
