lt4 knock module yup yall see where this is goin dont you. I have had some longtube headers installed since april and have kept telling myself I am going to get the car tuned since I am done modding it. butsince I have picked up a 2000 trans am I have lost some interest in my z so the tune has not been done. an lt4 knock module should add a lil hp or atleast reduce the amount of timeing being pulled from everything I have read. is there any down side to it? also heapest place to get one quick? I dealt with two dealerships today one said I needed my registration and vin to order and the other told me they do not make an lt4 nor have they ever and they cannot order anything. yes I have some very incompetant (sp?) parts guys so I am ondering where to order from. thanks for the help

not to hijack the thread, but i have been reading conflicting statements about this mod, but no real reason as to why it is a good mod or a waste of time. I know why it is used but, can someone give a detailed reason as to why not to do it? thanks

If you are tuned, no reason to do this mod.

If you are tuned correctly you shouldn't. What kind of tune is on it? Mail order or some handheld?

well i paid a local shop to use tuner-cat to tune the car, so i'd say the tune should be pretty good considering this guy is well know for f-bodies.

although this is one of the first cars he has tuned. i wonder if maybe after he does a few he will have a revised tune that he can load me up with.

Interesting..He should be able to de-sensitize the stock KM (if that makes sense) I know that's what ION at madz28 does.

If he tunes LSx cars he probably wasn't familiar with the false knock problem the LT1's can have. I'd ask him about it

Sometimes even if you are tuned you still need the lt4 knock module, especially with roller rockers. The hole point of the knock module is to mask certain frequencies from the knock sensor with out compromising it's function, to detect real knock. You can do this by turning the sensitivity down on the knock sensor, but you run the risk of it being able to pick up knock effectively. The lt4 knock module basicly masks certain frequencies, without effecting the hole frequency range of the knock sensor. This how it was explained to me, I could be wrong?
