Question 4th Gen Bump Stop Dimensions?

Hey everybody, For the past couple of weeks I've been trying to find aftermarket Bump Stops for my 2000 SS because my original ones are falling apart and want to switch to polyurathane. Turns out nobody makes them! Energy suspension has universal ones that may fit but I'm trying to find out the overall dimensions for our stock ones. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help me out on where to find a set or dimensions.

Are you looking for the front or rear stops? How is your car set-up? What do you use the car for?

Mine is a dedicated autocross car and it sits very low. I do get into the front and the rear bump stops frequently during a run. I have found that a supper stiff bump stop is not the way to go. For my set-up I have found that the stock SS rear stops work very well in progressively slowing the rear axle, which is more desirable than a fast peak stop. A fast stop will cause the weight transfer to happen too fast and rear will break loose.

On the front I use the Koni Bump stops and again, they are work perfectly at reducing the wheel speed without a sudden stop.

Question

I've been looking on/off for the last 5 years. IMO, just buy some new factory (rear)bump stops.

You are talking about the rear bump-stops , correct?

Use these........

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...umber=10164173

I ordered a set a few months back. They are a perfect fit.

EDIT: There is a PN: from energy susp. that works, but after talking to the Road Race and Auto X guys, they say the poly bump stop is WAY too rigid and would cause more harm than good.

This link above is the best way to go.

Yea Im looking for the rear set. So you guys say just stick with the stock bump stops? My car is lowered with 295s and theyre rubbing believe or not everytime I hit a bump, the car will bottom out below the bump stops because the rubber fell apart on the bump stops.

Yep, the stock bump stops are the way to go. Or you can upgrade to the SS bump stops. BTW, what springs and shocks are you running?

The SS bump stops aren't exactly an upgrade and are probably not what you want.

When I was setting my car up to go around corners, most people suggested the stock Z/28 stops. I went with those. My car is lowered and has 315's all around. I had to roll the inner rear fenders but haven't had any rubbing issues since I did.

Yeah thanks for the link and PN. Mine are falling apart and I bought a set of EnergySuspension bump stops from Vatozone (that only have one bolt hole so another adapter plate is needed ) but will but probably take those back and get the newer GM yellow style ones listed above.

Lightbulb

I came across these by accident the other day!
Yes finally a option, and it's affordable!
These will work with a little modification to the bump stop mounts(bend or cut off the lip between the mount nuts).

They're also 5/8" shorter than stock

YUP, that's what I installed in my car last week. I chose, however, to trim the side of the bump stop instead of trimming the car.
