Updating my stereo system in my 2000 SS, with new speakers, sub, and 2 amps mounted on an amp rack in the back. Trying to determine the best location to ground the 2 amps, which will both have 8 ga. power wire off a distribution block being fed by a 4 ga. primary power source. Where did any of you guys connect the ground to?

sand down a spot in the wheel well and bolt it on there with some dielectric grease.

anywhere in the wheel well area, or behind the carper on the rear wall

I took removed the passenger side top seat belt bolt (you can see if once you remove the spare tire cover/trim), filed off a big section of paint, then sandwiched a spade connector between the bare metal and seat belt metal bracket, tightened the bolt down really tight, so far so good with my Kicker 480W monoblock amp. I do plan to upgrade to 4 gauge wire for the ground and will probably use the same location unless someone chimes in and says "you dumb ass, that is a terrible ground". Read other people using it in other posts. Figured its just as good as bolting to bare metal.

yeah theres a few nuts/bolts in the rear fender well, just remove the nut or bolt, take a wire brush to the metal till paint is gone and ground off of that.

I found a nice thick chunk of metal under the rear passenger "armrest". Just remove the plastic, sand the paint down, and install like this:
