ok for your blower folks...
ok got a question here.... got two possible builds goin in my 95 z28. m6 3.73s
heads will be stock lt-1, just cleaned up a bit. will have a p600b procharger on it with a 12 psi pulley
camshaft is a CC503, w/ crane 1.6rrs w/ the beehive springs w/ ls1 retainers
we are tryin to decide how we want to set this bottom end up. either 355 or 383. ive got a set of new howards billet 6.0" rods right now and wanted to use them. but im having trouble finding pistons with a deep enough dish for the 6" rods and 3.75" stroke if we go stroker. can someone give me some insight for this.
we can go 355 but i wanted the 383.

ok found a set of pistons from JE 28.00cc dished. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...8&autoview=sku
they are for 6.0" rod and 3.75" stroke. if i run the .040 cometic head gasket with standard deck height lt-1, think that will bring my comp ratio low enough?

well thats close to what we were lookin for comp wise. so now with that setup think 383 would be good choice of the two to build. will running that p600b with 12psi pulley be less effective having more cubes and longer stroke for the cfm that blower will flow?

Sure if you got the money. If the cylinder bore is in good shape I would try to stay standard bore or .020 over. No sense in wasting the block boring it more then it needs. These blocks seem to hold up pretty good as far as cylinder bore wear. It will be stronger also

Also I dont think LS1 retainers will work on LT1 valves, pretty sure they are different.
I would keep the stock crank, if you have those rods, use them.
Keep the compression around 9-9.5:1 to keep if from getting sluggish.
How much are you willing to spend on pistons?

gonna go forged internals all the way because i will step up heads and to a d-1 later on next summer. dont wanna run the **** outta a stock crank 150,000miles on a blown motor. only wanna build it once.
as for retainers i was told to run ls1 retainers with the springs im running. im goin to have to look further into that before i install them then.

If your going to go stroker I would sell the p600. Ive the the p600 on my cat before and it will make power. It will also make 12psi as well with no problem on a 355. My friend made 524@the wheels with stocks heads and all the boltons with the p600. The problem you get when you add cubes with a fi application is volume efficiency. If you go stroker I would do a D1 or an F1.

yea it will be next summer before i can get the D-1 head unit. for now hows the VE gonna be on the 383 havin the larger hole to fill. think itll be a weak motor compared to runnin 355 with the 600b instead?

I would suggest doing the D1 the first time, otherwise it will be like doing it twice. As far as bottom ends go, theres people running stock crank and rods(studded main, ARP rod bolts) on F1As. Its all about the machine work. Just dont spin it to the moon and youll be ok. Nothing wrong with forged components, just saying it may not be neccesary. I recently upgraded my valvetrain to 918s as well.

my main concern is building the 383 running the p600b. would i be better off power wise to build the 355 instead. dont wanna have the 600b on the 383 and it be slow as hell since it will take more air from the blower for the 383 as opposed to 355

i was thinking the 383 would choke out the charger since its not a large size is what i meant. the blower would have trouble tryin to keep up with the larger volume needed as opposed to the 355s volume
