Default New bolt-on LT1 record

Hey I know some of you guys are shooting for the bolt-on LT1 record that was set for Shon Herron years ago at 11.805 @ 113, and more recently an very honerable mention went out to Tom Cowle for his 11.702 @ 114 run earlier this year. I say honerable mention because a lot of people argued that since he switched to a carb and carb'd intake that it was no longer in the rules for the bolt-on LT1 record. Either way I am glad to put that argument to rest by knocking both of them out of the running yesterday, too bad I only got 1 good run in, and I know there is more to get out of it...

I run in a local index series so I was not able to test full outright passes, but I let her rip on one of my qualifying runs just to see how fast it could go. I guess I shoud working on moving up to the 11.5 index...

Here is that run...

vid

too bad f-quick srinks the vid down, at full size you can read the board, but either way you can hear the announcer say "11.561 @ 118 for John P. vs. 12.06 @ 113"

That's flyin' on bolt-ons. Nice work.

If it's not too top-secret, would you be willing to share your mods list? (Including !mods)

Nice run man, think you might be able to squeeze more out of it next time with a few more runs?

Yea, I always bolt cams onto the outside of my motor too. I think that's a ricer technique for +15hp from intimidation, isn't it?

Now, on topic.

Congrats 1NOTSlowFormula!! I know you were knocking on the records door not too long ago, and we all had high hopes for you! So well done man!! Now, crack that bastard open more and smash it even further!!!!

No no, that only works when you take the cam sticker out of the box
(or rather print one from the internet using your mom's inkjet and some tape)
And stick it to your bumper/window/fender/etc ....
The cam itself is worthless.

James is right, inkjet sticker is the way to go.

Heard its worth AT LEAST 50fwhp on the dyno.... Amazing.

So, I need to then use a 80s - early 90s Dot Matrix for a solid 125hp?

I'm sorry 1Slow! I won't anymore. This thread is for you and your great achievement!!!

We need to get you a cool plaque. I'd donate $2 towards having one made. $2 seems cheap, but if you check out the prices and 15 people donate $2, that's the cost of one!. That one's nice since he can put in his time slip then.

There are official rules and people who try for it, and they have been in place for many years now. The rules were made up by the editors of GM High Tech when they started testing bolt-on and seeing how far people could take them.

Here is the article with the rules...
http://www.1slowformula.com/gmhtp_bolt-on_article.htm

Shortly after that article was published (within a year or so) Stephen Stumpf (SAR2K) took the record to 11.90's then a year later Shon Herron set it to 11.805 where it remained until now.

I have seen some with the Dot Matrix dyno a little higher than 125hp, so your going to have to dyno it and see what it does.

/end hijack
