People really need to SEARCH or scroll down a couple inches... Seriously.

On a side note, mine has never cracked. Could be because it's a hardtop, or it could just be dumb luck... With a Procharged 402 I'd have gotten a cage or subframe connectors by now - thats not to say it won't stop the dash from cracking, though.

I always assumed that direct sun/ heat is what brings the crack up. But Zex i noticed your in Ca, not sure how the weather is there but im sure its gets pretty toasty some days....oh and make sure you knock on wood, don't jinx yourself!

Seems as though it's caused by heat, UV light, extreme cold, and armor-all...

It does get pretty hot in there, and the previous owner said he used the car for road trips to Chandler, AZ during the summer - which is just about as hot as you can get, besides Death Valley... Interior smelled like B.O. when I bought it in 05 . I think it's just hit or miss.

Hey maybe your onto something with the whole hardtop thing, i think it sucks that they are so easy to cracking though. Sad thing is i was able to see mine go from a small tick to going from the windshield to the passenger airbag. Only thing i can think of is a dash mat, but even then i think us unlucky ones will get screwed even with a new one.

Hardtop doesnt make a difference. I had a hardtop ws6 and it cracked. I have ttops now and its fine. Its the heat beating through the windshield...I live in new jersey and it cracked during the summer of '07..Weird because it was only like 85F..

sorry I didn’t used the search..... It only has 42,000 miles it stays inside heated and cooled shop. Have any ideas were I could find a new one or a part number? I really don’t want to go used.

I remember reading it has something to do with the dash taking some of the chassis roll of the suspension, but who knows.

It is a poorly designed part. I replaced mine while the car was in storage. The new one cracked by spring; before I even drove the car. What a waste of money.
