G5X2 Re-tune and updated intake/exhaust
Ahh, it's been a long time coming but here's the scoop.
Original Dyno
G5X2 package
SLP LT's & Y-pipe dumped
GMAF
Volant Intake
3.42 stock 10 bolt
295/35/18's on the back
M6
388hp
349tq with a FAT TQ curve
New Setup
G5X2 Cam Package
TSP Lid & K&N
Stock MAF
Edelbrock headers and true duals with no cats but CC inserts
Same rear end and wheels
393hp
356TQ
A few things to note:
After getting home from tuning tonight, the car felt sloppy handling for some reason. Rear tire pressure was 27lbs on both. No excuses, but I should have checked it prior. The torque is even more broad than before and starts hitting hard at 2600rpms.
Both runs were on the same Mustang dyno with the same operator at nearly the exact same time of day and nearly the exact same temp. It's amazing that 3 months later I got lucky in terms of consistancy for weather.
So there it is, flame away if you should choose, but 393 on a MD on a stock headed car dropped jaws in the shop.
Hey Lou, when are you coming up to MI to watch us go bolt fishing in an oil pan?!

The HP is ok, but wheres the TQ?
Seems like a lot of parts changing for that little gain, I hope your happy with it cause in the end thats all that matters. Good-luck.

ummmm... mustang dyno is like 10% pesemistic right... so should be like 432 hp and 391 tq right???
wow that would be amazing on a stock head car!!!
great numbers
ps even if its only 5% pesimistic thats still 412 hp

Re: G5X2 Re-tune and updated intake/exhaust
I'm really happy with the #'s. I would have liked to have seen 400, but I figure 393 is nothing to sluff at. The torque sounds low, but it is literally a pretty straight line from 2450rpms on, so it pulls hard everywhere.
It was tuned @ APE both times and they did an awesome job.
CAT3: You're right, it was a lot of changing parts and based on the #'s, it was hardly worth it. The headers would have been changed either way because the SLPs dragged on everything and they rusted out. The edelrocks tuck up tight and I got a killer deal on changing to a lid. Anyway, thanks for the replies.

mustang dyno is 5% low, so it is running strong for a cam only around 413 hp and 380 torque on a dyno jet. get a set of heads on there and she will really wake up

Re: G5X2 Re-tune and updated intake/exhaust
Great results on a Mustang dyno.
410+/- is about right for the G5X-2 cam only package with bolt on's. The Mustang dyno numbers do require a little caculation to get a number that compares to a Dynojet. But at any rate, it sounds like you have a winner.
Glad to see that you got the "bolt fishing" out of the way .
Let us know when you need the cylinder heads for that puppy.
Thanks

Re: G5X2 Re-tune and updated intake/exhaust
Well prior to ANY tuning with just the cam, it ran a 12.8 @ 116 with a 2.4 60'. It's a ton stronger tuned and there's a set of sticky mickeys on the porch just waiting to snap the 10 bolt.
