Default Corvette ZR1 Dyno Results

http://www.fquick.com/blog/Corvette_..._the_dyno/2263
Dyno sheets in the link.

The bone stock SAE adjusted number came in at 530 rwhp and 508 ft-Lbs of torque. After making some tuning adjustments, they saw the SAE adjusted numbers rose to 567 rwhp and 532 ft-lbs of torque.
Just relaying what I found.. I wish I owned one, ha.

That's some stout hp stock. Not as high as the cam/bolt-on Z06s, but the the ZR1 is just a pulley change away from even higher numbers.

PLEASE correct me if i'm wrong, but IIRC, i read in a magazine (motortrend, car&driver, etc..can't remember) that the ZR1 was pretty high strung from the factory, like on the verge of spark knock as is, and that putting pullies on them with catback and everything we all want to do, will be not good for the engine at all, even though it's all forged. they said the intercooler couldn't handle much more boost and maintain efficiency. Ergo you'll need a larger intercooler, which wont fit, which means there will be turbo kits and the like for these cars and ZR1 blowers for sale on LS1Tech...

i don't know exactly why that is, they're only supposed to push 10-12psi, again IIRC, and even though it's factory stuff, forged is forged and should handle another 100-150hp i would think...anybody read/hear anything like that?

638hp SAE certified at the crank, stock
529.55hp SAE at the tires, stock
17% driveline loss, not too bad.

In my opinion, that is not near as impressive as the LS7. Most Z06s will put out 440 rwhp bone stock. That's only a 12.8% driveline loss. Either the LS7 is under-rated at 505 or the LS9 is over-rated at 638 hp. Both are SAE certified. I think IAT and ECT spark retard will kill most of the real world power of the supercharged engine. Give me the cubes. Long live the LS7.

Article
(Alvin mentioned in his post that the guy who brought the car into PCMforLess where the dyno was performed said the car was acting fishy and smelled of "clutch". That's too bad for a Corvette with all of 200 miles on her. We don't see a sheet for the initial run, but read that it was 540 rwhp. With the tune, Alvin was able to boost rwhp an additional 17 but the clutch slip makes this a moot point. )

They were saying that it needs a new clutch, so there is probably more hp that is not getting to the wheel.

We have one coming in at the beginning of next week...it will be the first one we have had in the shop. I have to agree with Patrick though, with only a mild cam, our 95mm TB, and our CNC port on the heads (exhaust ports really wake these up) & porting the intake we have 547 RWHP out of the last LS7 we did....and the cam was not near what it wanted.
