Clunk sound when kicking passenger rear tire...

Clunk sound when kicking passenger rear tire... My buddy just bought a 99 Camaro, and when you kinda kick the passenger rear tire, there is a clunking sound. Also makes the sound when going over bumps and when pushing the body side to side from the rear. Loose nut on the suspension?? I am thinking the sway bar mount or the lower shock mount.

jack up the rear, then push and pull on either of the rear wheels and tell us if you hear the same sound. if you do, its the space machined into the rear to allow you to remove the c-clips from the diff and is totally normal.
if its not the same sound, check the rear end for loose nuts and bolts and report back.

it's a V6 Camaro though, so the rearend is different

Check your backing plate bolts.. I had two sheared off, and two that were loose, all on one side.. If thats not it, then check your bearings? Does it make any crazy sounds going down the road??
