Okay guys and gals… what follows is a primer for those coming to this year’s shootout. This idea came out last year’s suggestion thread as a way to give you a more specific idea of what is going on in your class each day instead of staring at a general schedule. Each of you contestants will receive a hard copy of what is below at registration. I wanted to post it here as well so you can get a feel for what is happening before you get there. If you read what applies to you, it should answer most of the competition questions you will have at the track. I specifically encourage those who don’t have a lot of racing experience, to read it.

------------------------------------

LSx Drag Radial and All Motor

Friday
9:00 AM - Noon Open Time Trials

3:00 PM Round 1 Qualifying: Keep in mind that you will be qualifying with other NMCA heads-up classes. The 3 O’clock start time denotes the beginning of that round of qualifying, not specifically when you will be called to the lanes.

6:00 PM Nitto Tire Racer Appreciation Party (in the pits)

Saturday
10:30 AM Round 2 Qualifying: Keep in mind that you will be qualifying with other NMCA heads-up classes. The 10:30 start time denotes the beginning of that round of qualifying, not specifically when you will be called to the lanes.

4:00 PM Final Qualifying Session: Keep in mind that you will be qualifying with other heads-up classes. The 3 O’clock start time denotes the beginning of that round of qualifying, not specifically when you will be called to the lanes. What is different about this session is it will be run in inverse order. Pay attention to class calls on the PA system or on the track radio station.

Sunday
11:00 AM Round 1 Eliminations
The Remaining rounds of eliminations will be contested according to the number of cars on the ladder.
All finals will be run together at the end of the event unless otherwise notified due to extenuating circumstances.

------------------------------------

LSx Index Showdown and LSxTruck/SUV Showdown

Friday
9:00 AM - Noon Open Time Trials

4:00 PM Round 1 Time Trials: You will be called to the lanes as part of the first qualifying session for all cars (NMCA and LSx) for a time trial. Keep in mind that the 4:00 start time denotes the beginning of that round of qualifying, not specifically when you will be called to the lanes.
Note that this is not an official qualifying round. It is intended as a chance for you to “dial-in” your car in preparation for your official qualifying session which will be held at 5:30 on Saturday.

6:00 PM Nitto Tire Racer Appreciation Party (in the pits)

Saturday
9:15 AM-10:30 AM Open Time Trials: You will be called to the lanes with the bracket cars. If you plan on running True Street later in the day make sure to go to Race Control (the tower) and declare your official index for the LSx Index and Truck/SUV Showdown by 2:00 PM as you may not have time to do so later in the day. In all likelihood you will be out on the True Street cruise or in the lanes waiting to make your back-to-back passes. Also remember that if you choose to race True Street you will miss your second scheduled time trial.

12:15 PM Round 2 Time Trials: (For those not entered in True Street) You will be called to lanes with the bracket cars for your time trials. You will however be paired with other LSx Index and Truck/SUV Showdown racers. Listen for your lane call on the PA or over the track radio.
Note that this is not an official qualifying round. It is intended as a chance for you to “dial-in” your car in preparation for your official qualifying session which will be held at 5:30 on Saturday.

2:00 PM Declare Index: By 2:00 PM you must have declared your index to Race Control (in the tower) so they can prepare for your official qualifying run later in the day.

5:30 PM Official Qualifying: You will be called to the lanes separately for your official qualifying session. By this time you would have already declared your index to Race Control. If you have not declared your index by this time you will be qualified under the “A” Index. Qualifying position is determined by drivers who come closet to their declared index, without running under it.

NOTE! At the conclusion of qualifying, a qualifying sheet will be posted at the NMCA Registration Trailer. If there are more than 32 cars, first round pairings will be drawn at random in the staging lanes. Once the field reaches 32 cars or less, the remaining racers will be placed on a ladder based on closest to index from previous round.
The number one qualifier will receive the first round bye if there are an odd number of vehicles. Upon completion of your qualifying pass be sure to verify on your timeslip that you are given at the ET booth that your index is correct. If it is not correct proceed to Race Control and make sure that the correction is made.

Sunday
10:00 AM Round 1 Eliminations: In all likelihood, you will be called to the lanes and paired before 10:00. Pay attention, listen for you lane call and be ready to race. Many racers missed this call last year. All finals will be run together at the end of the event unless otherwise notified due to extenuating circumstances.

LSx Index Showdown and Truck and SUV General Information

How to declare you index: If you know your index you can simply declare your index on your tech card when you register and fill out your tech card. If, however, you are unfamiliar with this process, please read on. Once you have established your index (after making a few time trials) you will need to make sure Race Control knows what it is. To do this you’ll need to go to the tower and declare it to Race Control. This must be done no later than 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. Race Control is located in the center tower (the tower which straddles the racetrack). When you go to the Race Control to declare your index, tell them what class you are racing and that you are there to declare your index. Make sure you know what your car number is. If you have not declared your index by 2 PM Saturday you will be qualified under the “A” Index.

LSx True Street Challenge

On Saturday all LSx True Street racers will cruise and run with the NMCA Tremec True Street class. Your three back-to-back passes will be made with the NMCA True Street class. Once those runs are completed, your average will be separated into your own LSX True Street Awards categories which will be presented later in the day with the rest of the True Street Awards in the NMCA True Street Pit area.

If the overall fastest True Street competitor is in an LS-powered vehicle, GM Performance Parts will double the purse, provide a custom winners jacket and give away an LSX Bow-Tie block.

There will be trophies and awards for not only the “King of True Street” (quickest average), and runner up but also for the following: Closest averaged ET that is not quicker than the following – 9.00, 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 13.00, 14.00, and 15.00.

During your Time Trials we will do our best to make sure that LSx True Street racers are paired together.

Remember your True Street entry includes a free entry into the DOT Street Tire bracket class on Sunday.

Friday
9:00 AM - Noon Open Time Trials

Saturday
9:15 AM Open Time Trials: You will be called to the lanes with the bracket cars. If you are also running in the LSx Index Showdown and have not already declared your index, make sure to go to Race Control (the tower) and declare your official index for the LSx Index and Truck/SUV Showdown before you leave on your True Street cruise.

Noon: True Street meeting and beginning of cruise.

1:30 (Aprox) True Street Eliminations
Note: Depending on where we are in the run order the time before you make your first run will be at least 15-minutes after your return to the staging lanes (after your cruise) and probably longer than that due to the ever-changing environment of a race of this magnitude.

Good info Scott! Thanks for posting that. Im sure that will cure alot of confusion.

I forgot two things:

If you happen to win your class... remember that the jacket sizes fit small. If you are a 2x make sure to tell us you wear a 3x!

Also, when filling out tech cards, please write legibly!

Cuddo's on the Description. Thanks for the Heads up on how things
will be operating on Race Day.
BTW,........ Any clue as to the Tracks Radio channel?
Last year there was no way we could hear the Speaker System for
role calls.... and we were less than 40 yards from it. We just watched to see what cars were going to the staging lanes.

Thanks Again!
