Default Smog today in the hoe

Failed... Visual passed, but for some reason, the DMV has my 02 Z71 tahoe set to perform the "Idle, and 2500rpm" test, not on the rollers running 15mph, and 25mph (which I anticipated). Anyway, idle numbers ended up failing me on my new motor with 4000 miles.

Idle
Hydrocarbons (Parts per million) - Max(100) / Ave(26) / Measured(90)
Carbon Monoxide - Max(1.00) / Ave(0.00) / Measured(1.04)

2500RPM
Hydrocarbons (Parts per million) - Max(180) / Ave(11) / Measured(11)
Carbon Monoxide - Max(1.10) / Ave(0.10) / Measured(0.08)

So idle is killing me, and 2500 is the best thing ever. Pretty damn good so... Is it just tuned a little rich at idle or something?

i'm betting that cam is the issue. you should try search and look your regional forums.
i have read with great interest about a 224 cam passing a sniff test in cali. some people claim to have done it. with the overlap idle is going to be rich. one of the best ones i read on here was an F-body with a 224 that had the air pump runnig all the time lmao.

i realize you do not have an air pump

I posted on the western section, and as for the 224, that's why I got the 114, to reduce overlap. Could just be the tune that is off. @ 2500 the numbers were awesome, just need to get the idle leaned a hair and it'll be golden. Wish I had an AIR pump (doesn't have EGR or AIR) that I could leave on during the test, that'd be funny, lol.
