How are all you full weight M6's launching your cars?

I have cut mid 1.8's on street tires by slipping the clutch... with ET streets i have tried slipping it a little and tried dropping it from like 5,000rpm's.... either the car boggs real bad or just spins....

I have unhooked my front sway bar and think my suspension isn't all that bad for drag racing... but the best 60's so far is a 1.71 for me... and that was on a bog.

So how do you guys get those 1.6's and 1.5's?

Thanks,

-Jarrod

Slicks will get you those 60 foots. Or an auto with a bigger stall. I ran mid 1.5s on my old setup by dumping the clutch at 6800 with Hoosier slicks. :D

ET Drags :D

Launch at 5800 rpm's off Harlan's 2-step

1.50 on nitrous; 1.64 on the stock engine.

What kind of gears do you have in your 12 bolt? Without some SERIOUS hp/tq, it's going to be tough to get 1.5 60's with any higher than 4.10's The 2.66 first gear in the T56 makes it tough without lower rear gears.

Raceweight also makes a big difference in 60 foot times. What is your raceweight?

I have 4.11's and launch at 6600 rpm getting mid to high 1.5 60' times with a 3500 raceweight on a stock tq arm and shocks.

go to the MIR event on 10/4 and race in "cam only" class and i'll show you (after the race of course :) )

1madss. 4.30 gears, 5800 launch on stock engine.

Nitrous: 28x10.5x15, dyno'd at 436rwph/507rwtq 100shot - 1.50's 60'11.38 1/4; 124mph

N/A: 26x10x15, dyno'd at 332rwph/338rwtq 1.64 60' 12.57 1/4; 113mph

Engine is still stock. Almost every bolt-on. Most recent, best mod: LS6 intake. Drop nitrous runs from 11.77 to 11.38 and N/A from 12.67 to 12.57. No other mods, just the intake, same if not worse DA. Gained almost 10rwhp.

Oh, yea, race weight: about 3650 without me; 3850 with me :(

Launch at 5800 rpm's off Harlan's 2-step

ahhh..... sheesh... i can see me driving right over my crank and a few rods coming off the line too.. he he

1madss... i have 3.73's in the rear. I am sure the car is very heavy as i haven't removed anything from it... and i don't plan too. I did that with my mustang and regretted it.
Soon i should be turbo... so i won't worry about it... but right now i know the car has a 11.6-7 in it if i could 60'.
I ran a 11.9 @ 116 mph with a crapy 1.77 the other night... which is very slow for a cam'd car but like i said, i am pretty heavy... 220lbs. and so is the car.

go to the MIR event on 10/4 and race in "cam only" class and i'll show you (after the race of course )

well i am sure myself and the rest of the guys from RPM will be out there... but i don't know if i wanna get beat by everyone... do they give trophies out to the slowiest cam car? he he

ok so i guess i just haven't been launching with enough rpm's... now i just gotta work up to it.

Thanks for the help everyone.

What is Harlan's 2-step?

Silver TT. I am sure you have been to the drags and you have heard a car (after completely stagging) sound like it is missing just before launch. Well that is a 2-step in action. You can set a launch RPM (say 5800 :D ). In my case, push in the clutch, arm the 2-step, slam the gas to the floor, on the last yellow pop the clutch. God what a launch  . The 2-step will help launch at a consistent RPM, which will give you better 60', which will give you better 1/4 ET's.

Harlan is the only one that I know of that makes them for the LS1.

Here's his site http://harlan-engineering.com/store/store.html . If you order from him, it may take a while to get to it, but it is well worth the wait.

Come on out and run the class... win or lose, you will be up against some of the quickest ones around! I'd love to loose to a well known faster car;) Want me to sell my heads and come back and smack you around some HAAHHAHHA

Does the two step work only with N20?

Navy David SS - Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I have definitely heard cars making that noise and then showing a damn impressive launch.

Is this bad for the car at all? I realize it is probably hard on all the drivetrain, but what about the computer, ignition, etc.? Any downsides?

Is the 2 step easy to install or hard. Scale of 1-10, 3 being a shifter install and 9 being a supercharger install.

I've been cutting mid to low 1.5's on ET-streets at Englishtown (which is not the best prep track) my race weight is in the low 3200 range and I am leaving at around 5700 rpm's. I am also running an ALuminum flywheel also which tends to hurt 60'..
What I tend to do is I will lift the clutch pedal up as the light does down. so when it's about to turn green the clutch is about to engage. SO it does not put a big snap on the tires. so it seems to hook a little better.
