Advanced Engineering Tech - Integrating BS3 into Factory wiring

Hello,

I am trying to wire in my BS3 system for engine control only, while keeping the factory PCM for everything else. The truck fires up fine, but I need to get an RPM signal into the factory computer to control the shift points.

I have succesfully spliced in the TPS signal and it registers on the factory PCM, as does the VSS. I assumed the Factory PCM got its RPM signal from the crank sensor, but when I splice the factory crank wires into the BS3 crank wires it screws up the BS3 crank signal and the truck does not run.

Has anyone been through this process that could shed some light on how to do this integration? Is it even possible? I do have the BS3 with the optional tranny control harness in case it has to come to that, but I wanted to try and use as much of the factory PCM control as I could.

Thanks

i thought the cam signal is what gave the pcm the rpm reading??

Ask this question in the force induction section. I think you will get a better response since some run BS3.

very interesting-was thinking of going this route in the near future-

I believe that a company called caspers may make an adapter harness to integrate a BS3 into the stock wiring harness. I know they make one for the fast xfi stuff but not sure about BS3 but it would be worth looking into. www.casperselectronics.com. I know that some of the site sponsors are vendors for them as well if you wanna go that route.
