Default About to buy a 1999 C5...

I am looking at buying a 1999 Corvette Coupe. The car is a six speed, black and very clean. It belongs to my neighbor that I've known to years now so I would like to think that he wouldn't screw me. It’s got 109,000 miles and he is asking $13,500 for the car. After searching eBay and auto trader it seems to be a good deal, but I would like the opinion of some knowledgeable people. Any help would be appreciated.

Matt

It's a great deal.... there are guys on the corvetteforum with deep into 100k some into the 200k's and a couple past 300k all very happy.

I've got 61k on mine and have had to replace a few things, but the neat part about C5's is that you can read the trouble codes right on the dash to help you out (check the sticky up top of this section for instructions/codes)

For that kind of cash it's one hell of a car!!! I dare say even better than an F-body.

Thanks for the responses. It looks like I'm going to go through with it. I will be keeping the GTO for a daily driver and I plan on doing a mild build to the vette. The stock vs. stock the Corvette seems like it would hold its own against the goat.

i would venture to say the Vette would beat the Goat. If it's stock the Vette may have 50hp down on the GTO but it's a LOAD lighter and better geared. I've never had a problem with the GTO's even when i was stock, the 5.7 OR the 6.0. The C5's have come down alot and are an AMAZING bang for the buck right now

Yea. The C5 stock to stock will walk the GTO.
