Default lt1 to ls2... can I use 98 pcm?

I am looking to use a 1998 camaro LS1 PCM for my lt1 to ls2 swap. Will I run into any tuning problems using a 1998 PCM? Would it be better to use a 99-02 PCM instead? Thanks

99-02 has a better operating system & uses different sensors. However, the 98 PCM & related sensors will work on an LS2 set-up. I am using a 98 PCM to control my LS6 block w/ aftermarket heads, cam, intake...etc.

If you haven't yet spent the money for the PCM, wiring, & sensors definately go 99-02.

One other thing to note is that regardless of your decision, make absolutely sure of the tooth count on the reluctor wheel. GM changed some time in the early 2000's to a different tooth count. So, make sure the reluctor wheel on the crank has the same number of teeth that your operating system is looking for.

If you have a choice go with the 99 up PCM, the crank sensor counts were 24x for ls1's but some where around 2006 the ls2 became a 58x crank signal.
