Default porting heads ?

hi there i just have a question about porting heads. how is it worth your money when you get somebody to port your heads, how do you no that they did a good job on every port. each port flows the same (they should, its expensive) when you spend a little more money with a set of afr's.....or others after marker heads its all better parts and the chambers and runners are cnc done by a computer/ machine. flow the same or better. porting by hand. how good can the job really be? i just don't no if i should buy a set of brand new heads (afr, trick flow) "OR" should i get my 1995 LT1 heads ported.

thanks matt

Even if you buy a set of aftermarket heads you will have to get them to flow as good as stock ported heads.

There are local shops who can do good work all across the country. Finding one is another story and as many of us have learned, reputation is NOT everything. Sometimes it just means the customers are not smart enough to know what they are missing.

FWIW, AI gets my vote.

As said go buy past customers results, some people think that anyone can port heads, "Just Hog Them OUT", they do not understand velocity, swirl, tumble ect. At one time a local so called speed shop called himself a head porter, Yup he ported the hell out of them, to prove a point he ported his own heads, went 3 tenths slower at the track, Point well proven.....

You never skip an opportunity to pimp your preference stuff here on the forum and put-down everything else available.

Why don’t you show-up at the shoot-out next year and see if you can “actually” out-run anyone with your stuff!
