Ok, I usually roll race, and i drive my car pretty often, I was looking into a STS Turbo Kit, but people seem to not like it... I also sometimes get stuck in the rain so... I was hopeing there is another way to make around 450rwhp with another turbo kit. For now that would be fast enough for me and I would be able to drive like stock. Thats sort of what i want to do, but safely.

APS Twin Turbo kit or maybe a custom kit from Speed Inc, Kentucky Turbo, etc. APS run at 7-8 psi would net you between 450-500 rwhp depending on your tranny, and Heads/Cam combo (not sure if your completely stock). 8 psi is the upper range on what is considered "safe", however a stock tranny and rear are not going to like that power for too long so make sure to factor in potential costs that you may incur while doing your build. Another good and reliable form of FI would be a D1SC procharger from EPP. Good luck and let us know what you choose!

Sorry i just fixed my signature i forgot i had nothing in it but the pic, i have a M6 i dont go to the track, mostly race dumb ricers, but its time to step it up a bit so when i race these turbo gutted *** cars i can beat them by more, and say this is what a real car with a turbo does! hehehe..... ya i wasnt sure if there were anything else like the STS but i just dont want any problems.

Ive been running the sts kit for 3 to 4 years now.But your going to have problems or bugs to workout with any kit.I dont think theres a kit out there you can just bolt on and go without tweeking something or changeing this or that.But whatever you choose good luck and enjoy.

but really, the sts kit is good for roll racing. As for the rain issue I have not had any issues on mine when I forgot the prefilter was off and drove through a downpour. When I got to where I was going I was like....Oh ****!! But I got down to look and it was not even wet at all. Surprised me. There is going to be tweaks or fixes with any forced induction thats just the nature of the beast but boy is it worth it.

Thanks for the comment Silver Transam.Also dont think your going to put the kit on and be happy.I have changed my turbo 3 times,new 408 and went from a m6 to a th400 tranny and now run a t88 outback.Its an addiction because you always want more power In the end.

Well i also want to keep my a/c, so i just didnt no if there is anything else i should go for. I dont plan to be the fastest car ever, its kinda impossible. The turbo wouldnt beat up my tranny as bad as a cam, and then i would need a rear end too. I only roll race, i have kumho's for rear tires because im trying to not blow up my rear end. Now i will replace it eventually but bc i dont go to the track and race too often i think with a turbo kit like the STS i could make my 10bolt last a bit longer but be much faster! Any reccommendations?

If you put the sts on you will love it.Like Silver Transam said once you work the little bugs out its well worth it.You will have to change valvesprings,pushrods,fuelpump and Injectors also.I would go with a fmic also.

well i heard of problems with oil leaking from the turbo and the fact everything is hanging low under the car, but im interested.

I had the leak problem at one time.You just need to add a restrictor inline at the turbo oil fittings and I run my pump on high all the time.As for hanging low yeah it will but you can work at it to get it to tuck up real nice.I run a t6 flange 88 outback and I got it to tuck up pretty good.

So is it best to just try to build your own kit $$$ wise, or just find a used STS and fix the problems?

I would just buy a sts and just change the little things that need to be addressed.For some good info look into some of Zombies post,hes tried about every combination you can for the sts kit.

why stuck to the STS? a procharger would fit the your bill alot more than the STS. the D1 kit from EPP would be a great FI DD

Your rear end is gonna blow up regardless. The blower might be a little easier on the drivetrain because the power is more linear versus a turbo setup which usually makes more torque.

sts is a fun first time turbo project... under the hood gets UNTOUCHED! beautiful thing for some people. my sts kit is actually up for sale, and like most poeple said, it saves alot of hassle with all the tweaks and small mods you have to do from the standard kit, pm me if your interested

I'd buy a APS kit, and I would make the same reccomendation even if I did not have one for sale.

I like the idea of the turbos being close to the engine.

The sts is a good bang for your buck. Like vandal0-0 said just by a used sts kit for dirt cheap and add your own turbo and what-not. I started with the 67mm and when it crapped out on me (due to slag in the exhuast that let go) I just upgraded to a 76mm unit witch will suit my needs for awhile.

Yes the rear will break, its just a matter of time. I actually am still running mine, but it does have aftermarket gears and TA performance stiffening cover. Autos are softer on the rears especially with a stall converter unless you are using a transbrake of course.

The rearend will go eventually.I have been lucky I still have the stock 10 bolt but with Moser axles and Auburn Pro differential.I would go turbo,ive tried nitros,supercharger and now turbo which I prefer.I would think the turbo would be much easier on the drivetrain than a supercharger,since the supercharger is going to hit all at once.But that is just my $.02 everyone has there own preference.

Well i would figure turbo isnt as bad on the drivetrain due to it having to build boost, I just sort of want to be faster before i dump 2k in getting a rear end, i cant afford too many things having a car payment so im hopeing i get a good income tax return and another stimulis check and then ill put it all into my car... probly STS kit though.
