Default Nav for a 06 Monte Carlo SS?

Wife just got a 06 Monte Carlo SS and I don't even know where to begin to find out what nav to put in it for her. Want to find an in-dash nav. Not looking to spend over $800 on the unit itself though. Anyone have any ideas? Comparisons? All I've been able to find when reading up on it is the Pioneer Avic D-3 is that dated already though? Any help would be great! She gets lost WAY too easy.

The D3 is discontinued now I believe. Still a great unit IMO if you can find one. Pioneer just relased new map discs you can get so you don't have to worry about that. Not sure what else is out there for that price.

Ok maybe price is holding me back. Assuming price wasnt a factor what units are available?? In an ideal world I really don't want to buy a $1700 unit for her but I just can't stand having a plug and play unit on the dash.

Yea I didn't want to spend that much either. You could check this one out...it replaced the D3

I've seen people pick up factory ones for as little as $300 on ebay. I know a couple people have done it over at NAIOA. A guy recently put one in out of a Buick in his. However he hasn't gotten the actual navigation working yet. I don't recall if the other couple people ever got the navigation working either.
