Default Ls1 or LT1??? Swap

What would be involved in a engine swap from a v6 to LS1 or LT1??? I have found a 94 camaro that is in great shape for $1000 but has a v6 and I want a show nuf v8, so if I bought it what would be involved and would it be worth it money wise???? Which motor should I go with if I do this???

It's been said that it's basically cheaper to buy a z28/ss rather than swap one in.

If you do the ls1, then the v6 is no better than a v8 body to start with due to swapping in a different k member, computer....I would do an ls motor if money allows, even swapping in a ls3 crate motor isnt a bad idea and you get alot more out of the box.

Yea, from people that don't know anything and don't research it.

It's not that hard to do..wiring for it is actually pretty easy. You want an LS1, get an LS1 K-member and Steering Rack, preferable get it literally just unbolted out of the Car so you have the Brakes too..

If done yourself it can be cheap, with a donor car sitting right next to you it can be even easier.

Yea, a donor car is highly recommended since you'll need the K Member, fuel lines, engine and dash harness along with PCM and body control module as well as transmission (T56 or 4L60E). While the trans CAN be converted from LT to LS, would be easier if you had a donor to just use it's. Completely rear or side smashed cars sell for cheap and due to their damage location, the good bits shouldn't be damaged at all.

I think pre-97 cars will need the instrument cluster as well, but someone will have to confirm that.

You must have not paid attention to how I did mine..
I'm still using the 1995 Gauges, K-member, didn't do anything to the Dash Harness, I have no Body Control Module, and yes, I'm using a LSX T56.

I did use a 2002 PCM, 1999 Harness and reworked it, used a 1999 and up Corvette Fuel Filter/Regulator for the Fuel Rails and customized my Lines to fit the Regulator. I didn't touch anything else, complete wiring in the Fuel Harness is still stock.

I did pay attention, but it's been awhile :\ I think MOST people wouldn't be into that much fab work for the K member re-use (even though it wouldn't be hard) as well as the wiring. My suggestion was more towards "Plug and Play"

Mine was plug n play.. I just had to play with it to plug it in to the right spot..

Yea, I could have used the LS1 K-member, but the cheapest one I found at the time was $100, and the mounts cost me $40 with a little bit of fab work involved.
