Default f-body oil pan modification

Just a quick question. Putting a LSX in my 69 Camaro. I got the f-body pan and pick-up. I modified the pan, but how did anyone go about modifing the pick-up? Cut and weld, heat and bend? Suggestions?

here is what mine looks like, this is an f-body tube, the truck tube is the right length, you would just need to an inch or so from where it starts to turn down to the pickup.

As you guested.. Cut and weld, heat and bend if needed... Just make sure the the flange and o-ring sits flush and seals correctly.

Do you need to modify a F-body pick up tube to work with a notched F-body pan?
That picture looks like the pick up isn't even affected by the notch.

The pickup was lengthened about 3 1/2" if you can see the pipe in the picture, it is kind of hard to tell. I bought this pan already done, it was sopposedly copied from a s&p modified pan. There is another 1st gen running around here local, he did the pan himself and had to lengthen the pickup as well.

i just used a gentle couple of taps with a rummber mallet to move it over a hair, wich caused the pcikup to be crooked slightly. so then i gently staightened the pickup. fit tight, but good oil presure and no signs of trouble.

but i dontthink i chopped out as much of the pan as you did.

How many inches in each direction did you take out?
