Default If you had a free LT1 and 4l60e

What would you do with it? My buddy wrecked his '96 Impala SS and pulled the motor and transmission out and I might do some trading out for some audio work in his new Marauder. I built the setup in his SS and he was really happy with the work and called me yesterday about getting his new car built. Total out of pocket (minus my time) would be less than $200 because he already has all the speakers/sub/amps he'll need so the rest will be wire, materials and labor.

My question is what would be my best bet if I wanted to use this in a track only setup near stock. I might toss on some headers and hit it with a 100 shot but other than that I wouldn't try building it too much since it's an LT...

I wouldn't mind building something right so that when I toast this motor I could just scrap it and still have a nice setup to put a real motor in (sorry LTx guys)

Did it??? I was under the impression it was a 4l60e. Well if so that would end up in my Silverado SS and the 4l60 would still be behind the LT1! HAHAHA!

It's a 4L60, not 80.

No, it's not even very easy to fit an 80E into those cars...there are only a few that have had it done that I know of.

If I had a free Impala drivetrain...I'd go pickup the cleanest crown vic I could find at the police auction and make a car that would make everyone say "WTF???"

Yeah I just looked it up and it's a 60. Really wanting something light weight that I can back half and rip off some killer times with.

I always wanted a 67 Riveria with an LT1 in it. Just seems like a good combo. Doesn't exactly fit your description though.

There's a guy around here with a LT1/700R4 in an early-90s RX7
I believe the engine is stock, but with a little spray, he's in the 11s

You can pick up a 3rd gen nova (75-79) in good shape for a few hundred bucks.

They are really easy to work on, light, parts are cheap and everywhere.

All great suggestions! So far I'll be on the look out for an RX-7, 240sx, 300zx or nova (maybe a chevy II also)! And if all else fails I'll have an interesting coffee table conversation piece...

I would put it in something for a daily driver, I will be dropping one in a 70 chevelle in a few weeks, 94 LT1 4l60E. Just finished up an LT1 T56 in my 65 442, been driving the hell out of it and getting around 18mpg.

I beleive it would be the prefect fit for my 15 year-old's 98 S10. Yep, that's where it would end up!!

I've actually thought about that as a DD option...late model S-10 RCSB with some 2.73s would get over 20mpg and still run pretty good.
