Default shame on qtp, im dissapointed

on my car, i have qtp longtubes WITH air and egr. recently, i deleted my air and egr and used block off plates to cap off the tubes that flare off of the header primaries.

while racing the other night (on motor) the egr tube/fitting blew the F*&% OFF. on the passenger side, primary #1, the little tube that comes straight up about 3 inches, yep, thats the one. it broke the weld clean off. i can stick my thumb throught the hole. now i have the biggest, most humiliating exhaust leak EVER.

not downing qtp by any means because they have really good products and prices. this woulda never happened if i'da just bought the race style to begin with. just needed to vent. sorry

I'm still convinced that blowing the tubes off will happen regardless of if it is blocked off or hooked up. The EGR valve closes at WOT, as do the check valves in the AIR. There might be a little bit more give for pressure pulses, but it might not be the case.

PM Quick Time and tell them about your problem. If the welds broke, it's obviously not something you did. You should be able to have someone tig that hole closed, maby while they are still on the car. QTP might also be able to help you out.

Go to a muffler shop or someone that can weld and have them weld up the hole. I cant see how this is a qtp problem. The egr tube is not meant to blocked off. Just think of the pressure on it.

Forget having some shop patch it.

You paid big money for those headers and they need to replace them under warranty.

Now you guys have me thinking. I was planning on keeping the AIR and getting LT's with that provision but now I'm starting to wonder if I should just pull the AIR when doing LT's since I plan on getting a tune anyway.

i got rid of AIR and EGR because i dont see the point in having them, especially since i am not running cats either, and the race headers are a little cheaper too...

This is a common problem with headers of just about all brands. I've heard of the AIR tubes blowing off on several cars.

Just weld a patch over the hole

My Mac's have been blocked off for over 4+ years without any problems...sounds like you should get that header replaced under warranty.

I had the same problem with my hooker headers. When I asked around about it most people said its very common when you use the block off plates.
