Unhappy Crankshaft Position Sensor + Service Parking Light Errors?

My check engine light came on... The computer is throwing a code for the crankshaft position sensor --> anybody replaced this on their own or can give me a few pointers? Is it on the side closest the front bumper, or towards the firewall?

I can't figure out the "service parking lamp" message displayed on the center screen. All of my lights seem to be working fine. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mark

Neilownz,

The code is P0315

Well, I've been fighting a BCM issue lately that I finally resolved which was causing my power locks to not work. I'm new to the W body crowd, so I'm a little behind the curve on these cars.

FYI, not knowing what else to do I did install a same part # BCM from another car into mine for a few minutes to try and see if that was my problem while working on the locks. Stupid, maybe, but I dind't know any better. It put the car into security mode until I put my old BCM back in... which is about the same time the light came on now that I think about it.

Is there a crank re-learn procedure?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Mark

You can do a case learn with HPT. BTW the crank pos sensor is on the fire wall side of the engine, covered by the trans right below # 8 cyl.

the dashhawk can do it too. or you can go to the dealer i suppose they will charge like $50 depending on how they are. i would try the relearn procedure before trying to find the sensor. search for case relearn or P0315 on the forum since i suppose someone else has gone through a similar problem.

Ughhhhh... Called the dealer... they want $95 to do the re-learn. I'll shop around!

Thanks for the info everybody.
