Default Another SSC Lowered GXP

Finished the install yesterday. I haven't done an alignment yet, but here are the pics. I'm hoping the suspension will settle a little more, as right now I'm only seeing 1" drop all around, not the 1.7" advertised.

**EDIT** Here they are after 1 week. We finally got a few minutes without rain, so I snapped afew pics.

it would be 1.7 if you had a normal grand prix...the gxp already sits lower.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of the GXP factory ride height. Thanks for the heads up.

I hope its a good ride! I haven't driven it yet except around the block. I'm going to let it sit a few days and "settle in" before an alignment.

it could be just the pic but it makes the front wheel look low... is it possible to just lower the front because i think we'd benefit from that setup quite a bit.

I only lowered the front on my Monte because there is a sound system in the trunk.

Looks great! Did you do the install yourself or have it done? I was thinking about getting some for my ImpSS and installing them myself, but wasn't sure how hard the install would be.

You can definitely say goodbye to any warranty on struts, probably on any linkage, swaybars, etc as they will claim the lowered stance put the parts at a undesigned angle.

I did it 100% by myself having never installed springs before. It took 2 jackstands, 1 jack, a spring compressor rented from autozone, regular hand tools, and about 5 hours... probably took so long because I had to figure it out as I went along!

I searched on google for "installing lowering springs", and I think I read a quick how to from V6z24.com that had some good info. That's about it!

I'll try and get some better pics tomorrow... the sun was almost gone when I took this pic!

I'm really wanting a stiffer setup. I would not mind bone jarring :X

How does it ride and handle? I want to get my LTZ lowered. I want a lower, better handling ride, but not something that is uncomfortable because I take a lot of trips in my car.

Start with some stb's. Then if you still want the springs get em.

Trust me, I am making the suspension better on this car. It's my winter project. I am doing the front and rear STB's and BMR Adjustable Lateral Arms forward and rear mounts, and Trailing Arms

they need a set of springs for the gxp that lower the front more than the rear. the rear already sits low, but im gonna lower it anyways because i love my cars lowered

SSC's have a very "factory feeling" ride. They aren't stiff at all.

Lowering makes all GM cars look so much better. Why do they allow for so much space in the wheel well? European cars always seem to have a tighter "fit" for the wheels; Is that a U.S. regulation?

Now that I've had them a week, I'd say they're actually a little softer than stock. I'm surprised at that, but it's not by much. It's nice though... the factory GXP is stiff enough, it doesn't really need anything more.

BTW, I added one add'l pic to the top post!
