Lightbulb Think i might trade in my gxp for a goat

I was thinking i am gunna trade my 08 gxp in for an 04 gto 6 speed. I am paying 700 a month on my gxp and i really cant afford it anymore. If i go with the gto my payments drop to like 500 a month. Its the 5.7 not the 6.0, think its worth it?

Double check insurance rates before you plan on saving money. My 25 year old friend has a GTO, a clean driving record and gets raped on insurance compared to what I pay on the GXP. I'm 24, multiple speeding tickets and pay less. There is some stigma or something attached to the GTO as far as insurance premiums are concerned.

I've never been a 5.7 GTO. I hear tell they're slow stock, but then again what isn't? The only knocks I have on the new GTOs are that GM was too lazy to flip the radio controls for left side driving and the suspension is kinda poor.

Oh yeah and the GTO takes forever to put out heat in the mornings. Just kind of a nit picky bitch. We used to car pool to work and I froze my *** off the entire way down I-75. At least with the GXP I had the heated seats to help out.

yeah insurance rates go up because of the v8 and because it only has two doors my insurance is the same i paid on my last grand prix with the 3.4 dohc in it i dont think my insurance company had the exact gxp trim to select so i might be dowm for a 3.8

Do you have a deal already on paper, because a whoselsale/trade in value 08 gxp probably equals a retail clean 04 gto, not factoring in if you are upside down in the gxp and taxes/dealer fees. As for insurance rates, when I traded my 04 gto on a 06 mc ss, it remained almost the same. btw, does the 700 include insurance, or is it like a 3 year loan.

Car does feel alot slower that it acutally is, but with a decent driver it can go 13.30's-13.50's in the quarter with the 6 speed. I loved mine, but wanted something different.

700 a month for the GXP. God damn. If I was paying 700 a month for a car I wouldn't be in a w-body that's for sure.

700 a month? What was the total cost of the car? I'm assuming you bought it brand new, paid sticker, and almost no down? I also was thinking about trading my GXP for a 04 cosmos purple GTO back in August or so but my insurance would have gone up even more. Values on GXP's have tanked quite a bit in the past few months as well. Good luck.

yeah if you are saving money then do it....just make sure you look at the total you paying in the end and not just the monthly payment.

If you do sell it or trade it in, please remove the down-pipe and sell it to me! Keep us posted.

An 04 GTO is a fast car, the LS1 kinda feels a little doggy off the line in all applications, but from around midrange up is when it really begins to shine.

dude i pay 523 a month on my 08 thats used because i had negative equity from my 04 gt1 when i traded up, my buyout is like 26k and my car is worth about with like 29500 miles on it 13.8 but any dealer would give what u wanted for it as long as it was reasonable i could tell them i wouldn't want less than 15 and they'd probably do it. but i had 6k neg equity when i bought my car in july and if ur going to finance ur gonna have to put alot down cuz the bank looks at the year of the car for example my buyout=26k then its worth 15, and to make it easy the gto is 15 so the dealer pays the buyout of 26k then you paid 26k for a used 04 gto which retails at 16, no bank will finance 26k on a secured loan only worth 15kish or whatever the car would be worth. and dont waste your time on a goat anyway they suck, get a cts-v outpreforms it in every way!. i wish i would have done that too late now tho im stuck haha.

well i am gunna look tomorrow at it and see if its worth it. I am paying so much cause my interest is like 19%. I made a rash decision when i bought this car. But i wont make the same mistake twice. i owed on the car i traded in. But idk my car feels pretty quick now and with 2 grand more it can get a good amount quicker but a gto with the same amount of work would make my car look like a civic plus its rwd and a 6 speed so thats fun. I gotta check the insurance rates though.

Dude, the caddy is just a tad superior than the 04 goat and the goat could be had for $10,000 less than a comparble used cts-v

I traded in a m6 04 GTO for my 06 GXP. The GTO was fun, but living in Michigan needed something more practical, also my bills were starting to pile up and insurance on the GXP is alot less. If your going to get a goat get an 05 or 06, the LS2's are alot quicker than the LS1 not to mention they look way better.
