Default What's it gonna take to reach 13.5 in the quarter with a GXP?

Ok guys, here is the deal. It's nearing spring and I just got this car a month ago and I'm looking to break 13.5 with a custom fenderwell intake, 3" catless downpipe, res delete, dual Flowmaster super 44 mufflers, poly motormount, 275/40-18 tires, and an HP tune. Can it be done with this front wheel drive set up? Ideas? Criticisms?

Practice practice practice, that's all I can say. If you get the launch down, you'll be there.

I'm sure with those mods the power will be more than needed to achieve 13.5, it'll just take much practice launching at the track to get off the line with a good sixty foot. Best I could do so far is a 2.08 sixty on stock tires my first time at the track. I've been trying to find Hoosier or BFG drag radials that the same or close diameter to our stock wheels (26" i think?) but best I can find to fit 18s or 17s is 25" diameter. Then again I think that would mean bye bye to my tranny haha

LOL, true that man, but once I get about 2000 saved up I'm gonna try and blow this damn tranny so I can rebuilt it race type. We'll see what this ****** can take. As far as the race slicks. Going smaller diameter would actually help your 60' time because it would get you off the line faster. One rotation of the crack=less feet moved so that car could wind up quicker, I think it would actually help, plus that would be less weight on the rotational mass thus increasing wheel torque. Just IMO. Your top speed would be cut but who cares when you're doing quarter mile LS4, you're exactly right, and I CAN'T WAIT to practice

The only thing you need for 13.5 is K&N, tune, & traction. As far as smaller diameter tires I would think it would make it more likely to spin & kill your 60’ times.

You have a point man, but if they were wide with less inward offset, it would actually increase traction, we are talking about slicks here

Smaller tire will NOT help spin, but give you more MPH through the traps. Taller tire will help the spinning. I'd get some street slicks and let it ride!!

Do they make a street slick that will fit a 18 or 17" rim? i would probably have it already if they was one that fit.

MT 245/40-18
Toyo R888 245/40-18 255/40-17
Yoko 235/40-18 255/40-17

These are just some Drag Radials I've seen. I full blow drag slick will be different.

Yeah, they definitely make drag radials for both 18" and 17" wheels. Those will definitely go a lond way to getting a 13.5 pass. Like they said, the cars have the mph (especially with a couple mods), they just need the traction. Good luck!

All you have to do is get the launch down. 60 fts under 2.0 will get you 13.5s or better.
